Amen Street Fish & Raw Bar opened in 2009, reviving the former Amen name of Cumberland Street and restoring this historic corner. The new renovation stays true to the beauty of the original 1800's architecture while creating a comfortable atmosphere for contemporary life. Located at 205 East Bay Street in the heart of the historic district this Charleston seafood restaurant offers both indoor and outdoor dining all within walking distance of the local Market and the Charleston Harbor. The menu includes a variety of seafood dishes such as oysters, clams and shrimp in addition to an ever growing raw bar menu. Amen Street supports Charleston's local fishing industry with market fresh fish. We are open for lunch and dinner. Walk-ins are welcome and reservations are accepted as well.

Great Happy Hour

During our first stay in Charleston we had read about their happy hour menu and boy, did it deliver. Great seafood (we had 2 dozen oysters and one of the tastiest fried calamari preparation ever with fresh tomatoes, corn and an aioli to die for) all that plus 2 drinks for under $40 including tip... read more

I liked the vibe of this place. The menu had a lot to offer, aside from the usual seafood selection that you see almost everywhere in Charleston. There is a wonderful combination of raw and cooked seafood, a great variety of appetizers, salads, soups and entrees. I had the mussels, and the fried seafood platter. I loved it. They have... More

Looking for a lunch spot we picked Amen SF&RW never having been there. We sat outside which was very nice. Service was excellent and food was outstanding. We ordered a cheeseburger, shrimp po-boy sandwhich and she crab soup. All of it came out hot and delicious. The she crab soup especially, with brandy, really made our tastebuds dance. Just a... My husband and I took his mother here for dinner. She had never been to Charleston and we wanted to show her downtown. The staff was extremely friendly but couldn't make up for the service received. It took us about 15 minutes to get our drink orders of 2 glasses of wine. We were sitting for about a half hour... More

She crab soup and fish tacos. Both were excellent and I like to pop in here from time to time. While the dinner and bar vibe are not for me, as a lunch place it is always top notch. I will be back for my favorites.

This place was recommended by a local..which is always a good sign. The oysters selection was incredible, fresh and could be purchased in quantities as low as 2 each, which is great if you want to try several varieties. Don't pass over the shrimp corn dogs, tuna carpaccio or savichi. The calamari had a smokey flavor that I didn't prefer,... More

Our concierge sent us here for lunch upon our arrival. We over-ordered as we wanted to try Charleston specialties. Oysters, fried green tomatoes with pimento cheese, she-crab soup and shrimp with grits were our choices. Wow! Each was a home run! So far the best iteration of each dish we've had here plus amazing considerate service. We could not finish... More

Finally tried she crab coup, and I could eat this all day! Anthony Bourdain had tried trigger fish on his most recent show about Charleston, so we had it when we found it on their menu...cooked 2 different ways and both were wonderful! Décor is intelligent jazz...a signed letter by Josephine Baker and artwork reflecting her life. Funny when we... More

I ate there Saturday for (I guess) the 20th time. I always go for the oysters. This time, our server Michael was exceptionally knowledgeable, and helpful. Tourists - please go to Hyman's. Leave this little gem to us locals!
