Great Southern Comfort Food

This is a great little spot if you're looking for the Southern home comforts. It's not real fancy, and it's not a big restaurant, but the food is great! This is a small restaurant, and you feel like you're in someone's house. The wait staff is very nice and attentive. We went for dinner, but I would recommend going for breakfast/brunch. It seems more popular for that. I ordered the Shrimp and Grits and it was tasty! My friends loved the Sweet Tea Glazed Fried Chicken. The atmosphere was... More

My sons and I have been wanting to eat at Toast since we moved to the Charleston area 4 months ago and finally made it for dinner. The atmosphere, food, and service were divine! A week later my husband and I returned for breakfast and it was delicious. Toast will be a MUST when we have company visit from out... More

I had an omelette. It came with grits and a biscuit. Looked great and tasted even better. Big serving size. I couldn't finish it and I have a big appetite. Service was great. Kept the coffee cup full. Waitress made sure I had everything I needed but not overbearing.

So, if you don't like to cook, or perhaps just don't want to this is the place to go- I would say it's upscale home cooking...you could oh so very easily become addicted to this place!

I had blueberry pancakes with scrambled eggs and bacon. The pancakes were over cooked and wouldn't have been good at all without the blueberries added. The rest of the meal was okay. Nothing impressive. My husband had a crab omelet which was decent but the biscuit that was served with it was slightly over cooked as well. It wasn't a... More

Good breakfast or lunch restaurant but food is slow to arrive for a mid-week visit. Good central mid city location close to shops.

After reading online reviews of this place, and seeing that there was a line at the door, thought this place has to be good. I would never go back. This is a mediocre place with a regular, nothing special menu with terrible service. Our waitress was friendly in the beginning, but she was very forgetful during our time there. The... More

Had the Eggs Meeting Street which consisted of a fried green tomato topped with a crab cake, poached egg and remoulade sauce, complete with biscuit and grits - very tasty. It was our last meal before leaving Charleston from our 4 day visit, and will surely return.

Recommended by a friend and we are so glad we went! Scott was our server and was very attentive and personable. Our dinner was wonderful! Casual and comfortable with reasonable prices. Don't miss this jewel when in Charleston. You'll not be disappointed.
