After wandering around Carleston all afternoon we decided to stay close to the hotel and try a quick meal at Virginias. It was just what we wanted-no lines, no pretentions. I had blackened catfish and my husband had fried chicken. They were excellent with great side dishes. The waiter was friendly and efficient, no hovering. The atmosphere was right, kind... More

There were five of us ladies from work that went out together during Charleston restaurant week. For the appetizer I had fried shrimp and grit cake with caramelized onion-bacon gravy. I wasn't expecting the grit cake to have been put in the deep frier but it was good. Main course was grilled pork chop with collard greens, roasted garlic mashed... More

We stopped in for lunch after perusing the Farmer's Market which is within easy walking distance. Great way to spend the day. Walking among Charleston's fresh foods, arts, and live music then a stop in at Virginia's. I'd recommend the tomato pie -- excellent! The staff is just attentive enough. Not overbearing but there when you need something else or... More

Was visiting Charleston for the first time and wanted a real southern meal. This was great. I started with fried chicken livers, and followed it with quail. Actually there were two whole quails served over polenta with sauteed onions and peppers and a side of collard greens. I just about licked the plate. An awesome meal.

We made reservations for dinner and arrived early and they seated us right away. Our waitress was efficient but not as friendly as I'm used to in the downtown area. The food was served quickly and mine was very flavorful. We all ordered something different. I had the stuffed chicken with string beans which were cooked to perfection. My friend... More

We had dinner here on Jan 3rd 2015. The restaurant has more of a diner feel than a nice restaurant. The food and service was "okay", but nothing to brag about. After looking over the menu, I suspect this place is a much better choice for breakfast, rather than dinner.

We went here for my husband's birthday. Upon arrival, the hostess greeted us with a happy birthday, but we did not receive a dessert or happy birthday greeting from our waitress. We ate the she-crab soup and fried chicken. The food was good and moderately priced for the area.

Visited a couple of years ago, liked it so decided to return this morning. Ordered two shrimp, fried green tomatoes and grits. Food was as good as the first time, service was adequate also.
