Sort of just a place

Recently had dinner at Virginia's on King as a party of eight. Went at 7:15. I know their reputation is good but when we got there I was scared to death as I think there were only six other people in the place. Just an off night I guess. But food was good as was the service, as you might... read more

Had group of 8. Wine was ordered and had to wait 15 minutes to get the wine after asking waiter about it. Food order was wrong and by the time my wife received the correct meal, everyone else was almost done with their meal. A casual "sorry about that" was given by the waiter. My Jumbalya was average. Friend ordered... More

My husband & I ate here @ the recommendation of the gentleman from the visitors center. I can honestly say I was pleasantly surprised. The environment is casual, however the food was GREAT! I had the crab cake sandwich & sweet potato fries & my husband had the pulled pork & fried green tomatoes. We both SO enjoyed what we... More

Atmosphere was great. We got there late and they were out of short ribs but the pork chop my husband had was outstanding. Listened to other diners that raved about the fried chicken and shrimp and grits. Would have gone back for lunch or second dinner. Staff very welcoming. Casual attire acceptable.

After enjoying a little walk in downtown Charleston, we decided to stop for lunch on King street. Most places seem to have pretty terrible reviews, so we decided to stop at Virginia's instead. The soup was not terribly tasty. Both the fried chicken and the fried steak were well cooked and seasoned. One thing everyone noticed was the lack of... More

Had lunch with friends Mar 3 2015. We were a group of 10 with reservations. Half our group was finished eating before the other half was served even though three of the five that waited the longest had chicken and dumplings, pretty much a plate and serve meal. The chicken had no dumplings the celery and carrots and large pieces... More

We walked into Virginia's for dinner before a concert. We were immediately greeted and seated. Virginia's is in a 300 yr old building in downtown Charleston. Ambience is like your dining circa 1850. Love it. There is a funcky smell of a very old place. But omg the food was amazing. They serve quintessential southern fare. I had braised short... More

After a long drive from Atlanta, Virginia's kindly found room for our family. Though we were a last minute add on, when we arrived so the restaurant the hostess knew exactly who we were and had laid out three kids menus at our table. The food and service were wonderful, and the location was great. Highly recommend!
