A Great Place for Breakfast

We had breakfast on a Sunday when they had their Eggs Benedict specials. My wife thoroughly enjoyed her Salmon Eggs Benedict while I enjoyed my Corned Beef Hash. We look forward to returning on our next trip.

Overall a very good dining experience, but not quite the excellent we are accustomed to there. Service was good once the lady bartender took us on. Our favorite Cajun calamari tapas was us to its usual excellence. Baby iceberg salad has gotten to be a smaller wedge with less blue cheese. Charcuterie tapas was supposed to come with salami as... With so many appealing dishes on the menu it was hard to pick. Our waitress was incredibly helpful and knowledgable of the menu. The restaurant was busy, but did not feel chaotic or loud. The tuna appetizer was great. My husband ordered the special which was thoughtfully prepared, and I ordered the mahi with the salmon set up- there was... More

What a delightful find. We were spending a night in Beaufort hile driving down to Florida. Did the tourist thing, found a nice wine bar and then went looking for dinner. The Breakwater is only a block off the Front Street/Waterfront area. We decided to have a drink in the Beautiful Bar and ended up getting several appetizers for dinner.... More

just a great restaurant. Think of the opening song for Cheers, one visit and everybody knows your name. Since we live in Beaufort, we visit Breakwater at least twice a month or more, get a seat at the bar and welcome all of our friends who share the same opinion of this wonderful place to gather.

Wonderful food artfully presented. Pleasant staff. Ask to sit in the small alcove because larger areas are noisy. Yes, people are having a great time here.

NB: I have not been to this restaurant for at least three years I wanted this place to pop and sparkle, but every time I went I was disappointed. Maybe it's a better meal if you like to drink. Heavily. Then again, maybe Beaufort is altogether better if you like to drink heavily.

The Breakwater is an upscale restaurant with an accomplished chef, an excellent menu, fine service and a decidedly urbane feel (check out that wine room near the entrance!). Don’t dine here if you are looking for local flavor. You won’t find it in the presentation or style of the food, and you most assuredly will not find it in the... More

We come here on Monday night for their two course dinner special for $20. We love the pimento cheese tapas and butter bean hummus. My husband loves the lamb meatloaf and braised short rib entrees. I enjoy the lightly breaded fried chicken breasts with mashed red potatoes. They also have angus sliders with homemade fries and wine specials. We enjoy... More
