Hoppin' spot - good food to be forgotten - NOT

Warmest of welcomes and delicious appetizers. (that' all we had time for, but definitely come back for the specialties of the house) Definitely the place to feel a part of the scene, but still in that low country friendly kind of way. The private dining room in the wine "cellar" is where I want to... read more

We had dinner recently at Breakwater and my husband and I both had the mahi mahi and it was outstanding. The service always good and wonderful atmosphere. One of our most favorite places in Beaufort.

We've been here several times and have always enjoyed it thoroughly. The service is always professional and friendly, without hovering. Last visit we had the glazed pork tenderloin and the salmon; both were delicious. The bar area is fun for happy hour with some great appetizers. One of my favorite restaurants in Beaufort.

I ate one evening for the Early Bird Special, which put the meal under $25. I was extremely pleased with the salmon, which was a plump portion with a delicious, crispy seared exterior and a juicy, tender interior. I left vowing to learn to cook a salmon filet this well at home. A year later, I am still practicing.

The chef does a great job with creative cuisine. He is not bound by a "low country" location. Food is sophisticated and servings are quite ample. Half portions are available on most dishes.

Excellent food, staff, service, owners, chefs. We are treated very well most everywhere in Beaufort County, where there are so many good choices, but Breakwater bar area is home.

We recently took some friends who were visiting with us from Cape Cod. We all had great meals, drinks and wonderful service. This restaurant is a gift to the Beaufort area. Sit in the bar area for a bit more intimacy.

We have eaten at Breakwater a number of times and had consistently good food. The real value though is in the Happy Hour, 5-7 weekdays. Decent wines and well drinks are $4. But the well liquors are premium other places (Dewar's, Jack Daniels, etc) and the pours are generous. Several tapas can make your meal or order off the main... More

Everything was just excellent. Margarita was light but full-flavored with hints of orange and perhaps coconut. We started with large plates of mussels, and then I had the Trigger fish (which was served on a light sweet/vinaigrette type sauce) and my wife had a shrimp creole. Finished with blueberry pound cake. All was excellent. Service was perfect - always there... More

The dinner entrees were too heavily spiced. Desserts were not good at all. The ambience and decor is average. The service was good. Return visit doubtful.
