Another great meal at Breakwater! Terry, a bartender and our waitress, was fantastic from hello, cocktails, dinner, and through our complimentary dessert. We had Early Bird Special drinks and dinner. The wife, her best Cesar salad ever and lamb meatloaf. Me, tomato bisque and blackened mahi-mahi/dorado. All were excellent, served hot and in a timely manner. Missed the mussels Monday... More

First visit - not your normal small town eatery. Great menu - crab cakes were awesome. Everything was amazing. Hidden Gem in Beaufort.

It is a pleasure to eat here. Consistently good food from specials to menu standbys. Wine selection is varied enough to match up with the food. Service was once again friendly and knowledgeable.

My wife and I stayed in Beaufort for three nights celebrating our 40th anniversary. We ate at a three other restaurants during our stay, but this was the best. The restaurant had a nice atmosphere. My wife had southern fried chicken and I had the scallops. Both meals were very very good and were presented very nice. The server comp... More

We spent Thursday evening at Breakwater Restaurant. We had tapas, a good selection of calamari, oysters, cheese, hummus, washed down with some great gin and tonics. There was live music, a singer/guitarist, who was joined for some songs by other customers - they were singers in another band so not kareoke! It was very busy and most customers appeared to... More

We visited Beaufort SC, a beautiful historic southern town on the water. We heard good things about Breakwater and decided to try it. I'm normally not a tapas fan because of the incremental cost vs amount of food, this was different. Our waitress, who was great, suggested a less expensive platter rather than individual tapas plates and it was plenty... More

The decor and ambience of this small town restaurant will stand up to any urban locale. It was beautiful. But we go to a restaurant for the food. You won't be disappointed. Every dish we tried was excellent. Some were so unusual. It's been years since I've enjoyed a steak tartare entree and theirs was fabulous. We enjoyed this restaurant... More

We almost did not eat at this restaurant. But as we decided not to drive anywhere and it was located near our B&B and an easy walk we gave it a try. It was really very good. I had the fried chicken and mashed potatoes and gravy and husband had the sliders - both dishes very tasty. The service was... More

Dinner on July 4. Exterior unremarkable but interior understated and elegant, music subtle and relaxing. Service (Diane) perfect - attentive but not constant. For those who do not want a full entree, the 'Tapas' options are excellent. One of the better dining experiences in recent years and we will be back.

We visited Beaufort recently and were tired from our drive and wanted something close to our B and B The Rhett House. They recommended Breakwater for casual relaxed dining that evening. Our server was very nice but a little overwhelmed. That said our food was great and she was very helpful other than taxed by more than she could handle.... More
