Great clams for not too many clams

If you like clams and oysters - especially raw - there's no place better around. Fresh food, shucked pretty much as you eat them. Prices reasonable, but it can add up if you eat a lot.

My wife Barbara and our friend Jerry had lunch at the Oyster Bar today and we couldn't have been happier. Everyone had a truly delicious meal. My grilled salmon had a sweet and spicy ginger sauce and was served with sticky rice and snow peas. Perfectly grilled it was filled with flavors that were sheer pleasure to the tastebuds. Barbara... There are various salt ponds in this area, with a number of oyster farming enterprises. The Matunuck Oyster is grown right next to this restaurant where Matunuck oysters are highlightred along with other oysters from nearby salt pond oyster enterprises. It is extraordinary the difference in fresh raw oyster taste from one salt pond oyster farming location to the next,... More

My husband and I dined here for the first time and our overall impression was very good. The oysters are amazing. We ordered the Oyster Sampler, to get an idea of what they had. My particular favorite were the Oysters Rockefeller – fabulous flavor & texture, and not all spinach like some are. Because of the very cold weather, they... More

Accompanying my wife on an Academic conference at URI, she found this place to buy lobster the second night. We went back the third night for local Clams and Fresh Swordfish. We will be sure to go back as we pass through Rhode Island. Food was excellent, service was better than excellent, and the atmosphere was so comfortable, not rushed.... More

One of the best places to dine in South County. The oysters are superb. The menu has something for everyone. The service is great. It gets very busy during the summer and expect lines for dinner. Outdoor bar and seating is available during that season. The place is the BEST.

My husband and I ventured out for a belated Valentine's Day lunch at the Matunuck Oyster Bar yesterday and were seated at an inside table upstairs. The food was good, but if you're not at a window table, the experience was just "meh". Evidently, there was a seal that the "window people" were watching - would have been interesting. We're... We've been to the Oyster Bar several times. Yes they have their own oyster farms, and they serve several different types. Excellent! While they are known for oysters their whole menu is very good and well prepared. Swordfish and jambalaya were very good, likewise stuffed sole. A friend even had the ribeye steak and liked it. In the summer there... More

Located down the road from the state beach on the main access road. People rave about their oysters - no comment, not eaten them in 30 yrs. Summer offers patio seating near the water but inside it can be cramped and NOISY. Food is above average but not that special to me; other people rave about it. National reviews. The... More

Great place with a wonderful location! Love the variety of oysters - locally caught and grown! I enjoy coming here during the summer time with hanging outside at the bar with raw bar and drinks, while waiting to be seated. The wait never seems too long (maybe an hour wait is usually what I encounter) as they have open door seating... More
