Fish and chip supper, with a pint, £7.95, in "exclusive" restaurant, special offer on Friday evenings. Sounded good, but was a big disappointment. Friendly young female staff. This meal must be consumed in the bar area or adjoining room, but not in the restaurant. The white fish in batter had an unusually strange taste and after-taste. Not even sure what... More

Thank you for taking the time to write a review, I'm sorry you didn't enjoy your visit to us. Our fish and chip Friday deal is as you say, home cooked fish and hand cut chips and a drink to the value of £3.00, served in newspaper and available casually around the bar, as advertised in numerous posters in the... Having seen just a couple of vegetarian dishes on the online menu, we were delighted to find there were more on the specials blackboard. We were pleasantly surprised to find some unusual dishes which were a very welcome change from the tiresome mushroom strogonoff so often offered by restaurants. The chef at the Black Lion should be congratualted for his... More

Big well done to all of the staff here. Everybody works hard and the food is always beautifully presented and delicious. Always my top choice of restaurant.

Let us go back a few days where we descended on the Black Lion again for their new Friday Fish and Chip Special - excellent VFMoney and the kids eat free as well! The evening was topped off with a live acoustic session from local band the Cheesecutters - (they play last Friday of the month apparently) - great family... More

When we moved to Flintshire, six years ago, we despaired of ever finding a good place to eat after being used to the selection of quality restaurants in the Manchester area Then, someone recommended The Black Lion - what a find! We have enjoyed bar lunches, Saturday night treats, family celebrations and New Year's Eves and not been disappointed at... More

Today i visited the Black Lion Inn in Babell for dinner. Having read the mixture of reviews on here i was intrigued how a venue can be given such varying scores. Upon arrival the first thing i noticed was the lack of atmosphere/warm ambiance i would expect from a country pub or restaurant. Despite the fire in the small log... More
