Best French Baguette Anywhere! Great Coffee, Pastry, and Sandwiches Too

This bakery makes the best French baguette anywhere on the East Coast. No lie. Unbelievably delicious bread. Great coffee too. And how many bakeries make pastry with eggs from their own chickens? I suggest you try the heavenly brioche, the pecan sticky bun, or the Italian espresso plum brandy... read more

This bakery makes the best French baguette anywhere on the East Coast. No lie. Unbelievably delicious bread. Great coffee too. And how many bakeries make pastry with eggs from their own chickens? I suggest you try the heavenly brioche, the pecan sticky bun, or the Italian espresso plum brandy muffin. Or better yet, don't go anywhere near the place! The... More

My wife, daughter, and I recently spent the weekend in Jamestown. Village Hearth Bakery Cafe was on a list of local restaurants by our hotel, so we decided to stop out on Sunday morning for breakfast. So glad we did; they had an assortment of freshly baked items from scratch. My wife had a sticky bun, my daughter a coconut... More

We stopped in on our way to the state park for a picnic. This place was wonderful! They had sandwiches and salads ready to go. The prices are fair and the food was delicious. Ensure you bring cash since they don't take credit.

GREAT BREAD- very tasty! Pastries looked good but not good enough to tempt me. Caprese sandwich left lots to be desired. Way to much oregano - very overpowering. Also you don't heat up a sandwich with lettuce on it unless you are into wilted soggy lettuce.. Cute place must be nice in summer if summer ever comes!! Definitely worth a... More

Dorianna & Andrea serve and make respectively the best breads typical of northern Italy. The recent additions give patrons a really nice cafe experience.

I don't understand what the big draw is to this place…the bakery selection is small and offers nothing fancy…some muffins and a few pastries. Apparently the pizzas are great (only offered on sundays) but we haven't tried them yet…we attempted to one night but we were limited to two options. That night it was cheese or eggplant pizza. We ended... More

The Village Hearth Bakery is, indeed, a SMALL operation owned and operated by myself and my husband who prepare and bake EVERYTHING FROM SCRATCH including a selection of croissants, muffins, fruit scones, pecan rolls, brioche, fruit/nut bars, cookies, biscotti, tarts, tea cakes, quiche, soup, etc... For breads we also offer several varieties of artisan breads (best to check web site).... More

We stopped by on 10/26/14 to pick up sandwiches to take with us out to Beavertail State Park and Lighthouse for a picnic (a "must-see" if you haven't been there before). While waiting for our sandwiches to be grilled, we tried the soup of the day. It was so good that I suspect we would automatically try it again on... More

Two and a half years after my last review of the Village Hearth, I feel compelled to provide an update. Typically updates are written to offer a stark contrast to previous reviews, such as when establishments go downhill for some unknown reason. But in this case, I'm pleased to inform readers that Cherry Wonderdog is as impressed today if not... More

I have been going here since it opened. Coming up each summer to visit my wife's parents who have lived in Jamestown, I start anticipating my first walnut sticky bun and coffee on the trip up! I have watched it grow and become what today I consider a perfect size...not too big and not too small. I wish I could... More

My boyfriend and I go to pizza night every Sunday and enjoy truly the best pizza you can find outside of Italy. The ingredients are fresh and the crust is fantastic. The only negative about the place is that I wish it was open every day so I could eat there more often!
