Nice food with a few wine hiccups

It certainly had a lot of potential but let itself down in a few ways... 45 min wait for our wines was the initial problem - and no tap water "because they ordered water" but hadn't been offered tap. The wine we did eventually have was an older vintage than what we ordered - not great when you like... read more

Simply wow! I try to keep the excellent ratings for the outstanding few and Jamestown Fish makes the grade. Service in the main dining room is attentive and informed. The room is calming and this is important to me: NOT TOO LOUD. We had two excellent salad openers and I enjoyed Grilled Skate, which seemed intimidating, but was quite delicious.... More

Went to Jamestown Fish in July as I wanted to avoid the crowds during the Newport Folk Festival and I had heard good reviews. There are only a few option on the island, and this was our first choice. The reservation (on a Saturday) was for 930, but we showed up earlier to try our luck. It worked and we... More

We were seated outside at once and had terrific service. The food was unusual and good. Everyone enjoyed. Would go back again!

When you walk up to the restaurant, you have three seating choices: outside on the pizza patio with a more casual menu, in the main dining room with the fancy menu, or in the upstairs bar with both menus. We chose the dining room, and had one of the best meals of our lives. I began with the Pamplona cocktail,... More

We skipped dinner in Newport last night to instead join friends at Jamestown Fish in their dining room. What an excellent experience all around. Chef Matthew prepares creative and perfectly presented dishes made from the freshest ingredients imaginable. We were lucky enough to get a tour of the operation behind the scenes and were very pleased, but not totally surprised,... More

We tried Jamestown Fish as a special anniversary dinner and really enjoyed the entire experience. We always enjoy coming to Jamestown and were fortunate to get last minute reservations at this exceptional restaurant. There are different areas of the restaurant with different menus. We were specifically interested in ordering an appetizer from the bar menu and were accommodated by sitting... More

It was a beautiful sunny day. We chose to dine outside which was clean, pretty and cute atmosphere. Because it was between lunch and dinner we chose the peekytoe crab salad, baked clams, etc. with the cheese plate for dessert with a capachino coffee to end the delicious lunch. The peekytoe crab was to die for..yummy! Everything was very good.... More
