Really liked this place when we first started going there in summer 2012 - it's been open then closed then open again recently - unfortunately they've spent nothing to improve the dining room - food was not very good - service ok - seems they prefer to have a bar that reluctantly serves food - wish I could be more... We stopped here one night, food was good, service could've been better. It wasn't real fancy, seemed to cater more to "Locals".

This was our second experience at the Jamestown Tavern. First experience, in the Fall of 2012, was very good - good food, good portions and excellent prices. Returned last evening for a quick bite and the experience was very different. The physical place is the same - nothing much to speak of- it's mostly a bar-type atmosphere - wobbly tables,... More

I visited the Tavern this Memorial Weekend with friends. We were seated at the outside patio. The food was amazing!!! We ordered the wings and shrimp mosonbique (sp) as appetizers. Delicious!! I was pretty much full from just that be went ahead and ordered the philly cheesesteak and a burger. The prices were VERY reasonable! There is no place around... More

its a bar dive kind of place. dingy with mensroom that smelled horribly of urine. toilets had no flow. old tables and chairs with no true decor. waitress said they'd be spiffing the place up though ? how about having clean restrooms ? they need a "Ramseys Kitchen nightmare" visit to staighten out the act. we had raw bar which... After looking for a restaurant in Newport, we decided to drive around Jamestown and decided on the Jamestown Tavern based on some reviews. Although the ambiance isn't much, the Jamestown Tavern offered HUGE portions, and very inexpensive prices! The food was wonderful, the service great, and we left very happy.

Ok so I hadn't even checked TripAdvisor on this one...we were on our way to Newport and thought we would stop in Jamestown for dinner. None of us had ever been so we just picked this at random. It's basically a bar with food also. The burgers were ok, the fish and chips were not good. And, stick with beer;... More

This is a nice stop for lunch or dinner. The menu is limited to the basics, however, the food is ample, served nice and hot and very good tasting. An appetizer of nachos, melted cheese, beans and tomatoes was full of flavor and large enough to serve 4. Our table ordered cheese steak, mixed greens salad and and French dip.... More
