Enjoyable Bacalhau

My experience at this restaurant was limited to one dinner, but I enjoyed the visit. Two of us began with the Caldo Verde, and liked the flavorful potato and kale broth (although I would have preferred more than just one small slice of the tasty chouriço at the bottom of the bowl). But the star of... read more

They may serve authentic Portuguese food but they don't do it well. Three times and I'm out. Their prices are reasonable but with so many good Portuguese restaurants in the area it makes me wonder how they've stayed open for so long. It's a pretty place but the food is very disappointing. Despite the idea of relaxed, slow continental dining... More

The food ordered, Portuguese stake, was worse than terrible....uneatable. We dine out weekly and order food quite often too. After many inconsistencies going/ordering from Madeira, we decided today was our last. If you look for decent Portuguese food head out to Galito in Pawtucket. Price and quality are much better. Madeira is overrated and overall very inconsistent with food and... More

Madeira has a charming old world atmosphere. This is a nice restaurant for all types of groups- couples, families, and gatherings. Our waiter was efficient and brought out our pitcher of delicious sangria quickly. The price was right for the generous portion sizes. The skewers are fun! I wish the vegetables were more fresh, but the Portuguese fries were crispy... More

Expensive, and lives on by the fame it may have deserved at some point in the past. I will never go back. Terrible food, terrible service. How can you screw up a Pork Loin dinner? Easy... Make it tough, cover it with a Madeira sauce so full of garlic, that you are unable to eat. Add reheated potatoes, and tasteless... More

Stopped in at 8:00pm on a Tuesday. Not very busy & our choice of seating. Chose the floating gazebo outside. Very pretty with the hanging lights. Seated immediately by our server Rui. Menus produced and drink orders taken. Everything looked very good on the menu but we chose the littlenecks in olive oil & white wine as a shared appetizer. Littlenecks... More

We went to this restaurant on New Year's Eve 2013. The food and service were excellent. Kudos to our waiter Ernesto. He provided great service and was very attentive. I'm not sure why others were negative. We had a delightful experience.

Upon entering Madeira for the first time, I was impressed by the elegant decor. Then I saw a sign that lunch was only being served in the bar area dining room (Al's I believe it was called) and our reservation holding party of 5 was ushered in to that area by someone that may have been a bartender, judging by... When we sit at the bar, we always get a handshake from the owner or bartender and a "Welcome to Madeira". Of course this is Portuguese food that is always very good. All the appetizers are outstanding and he soups are excellent. The omelets are a nice light offering. If looking for a tasty entrée order the pork and littlenecks.... More
