After spending the day in New Bedford, we followed a recommendation to try this Portuguese orientated restaurant located in East Providence. We were promptly greeted and seated inside at our choice versus being seated outside. Our assigned waiter promptly welcomed us and took our drink orders. Apparently, the selection of beers is limited as I was unable to obtain a... More

They have a nice outside area for summertime dining. The waitress sat us at a table that needed to be wiped down. There were plenty of open tables. Why this one and why not just wipe down the table before seating us. The Portuguese stew was tasty, it is a Portuguese restaurant, so that was expected. We also ordered pasta... More

WE overall enjoyed our experience at Madeira, but have had better Portuguese food elsewhere in the area. The food was quite heavy, and although we ordered 3 dishes that sounded quite different, they seemed quite similar--various different proteins with potatoes mixed together, and almost identical seasonings. We were a large party of 11 and received excellent service.

My experience at this restaurant was limited to one dinner, but I enjoyed the visit. Two of us began with the Caldo Verde, and liked the flavorful potato and kale broth (although I would have preferred more than just one small slice of the tasty chouriço at the bottom of the bowl). But the star of the evening was the... More

They may serve authentic Portuguese food but they don't do it well. Three times and I'm out. Their prices are reasonable but with so many good Portuguese restaurants in the area it makes me wonder how they've stayed open for so long. It's a pretty place but the food is very disappointing. Despite the idea of relaxed, slow continental dining... More

The food ordered, Portuguese stake, was worse than terrible....uneatable. We dine out weekly and order food quite often too. After many inconsistencies going/ordering from Madeira, we decided today was our last. If you look for decent Portuguese food head out to Galito in Pawtucket. Price and quality are much better. Madeira is overrated and overall very inconsistent with food and... More

Madeira has a charming old world atmosphere. This is a nice restaurant for all types of groups- couples, families, and gatherings. Our waiter was efficient and brought out our pitcher of delicious sangria quickly. The price was right for the generous portion sizes. The skewers are fun! I wish the vegetables were more fresh, but the Portuguese fries were crispy... More
