When Hourglass Brasserie closed last year, we were crestfallen that this creative, serious, wonderful spot had decided to close. Luckily for foodies in search of similarly find dining, Persimmon is still going strong. The food here can indeed be spectacular. Visually seductive, complex and delicious. Many different choices are available, from a la carte, to tasting menus of varying sizes.... More

Hard to imagine an evening here not being one of your best meals of the year. Food is locally sourced and prepared with care. Ideal for a couple or a small party. Room only seats 40 or so, but even full it's not loud. This is the kind of place you look forward to coming back to.

I am just back from dinner at Persimmon. It was an other-worldly experience! I don't have a wide experience dining at fancy, pricey restaurants, but within my limited culinary world it was the most memorable dining experience in the past dozen years. Everything I tasted (sampling friends' dishes) was sublime, and I didn't even know food could taste like that.... More

When we moved to Bristol last year we heard from local people as well as out of area and state that Persimmon was probably one of the best restaurants in the country. That gave us the impression that we always needed a reservation, etc., but that turned out not to be true (except Saturday's). While Persimmon's is a very special... More

Chef Champe Speidel continues produce gourmet quality meals each year. Persimmon is a small intimate restaurant with a full bar and outstanding servers. The food ranging from mouth watering lamb and duck dishes to the freshest catch is not unlike being in Paris or New York. The appetizers are always marvelous as are the small bites which Chef always prepares... More

I sat at the bar and talked to the bartender and foodie Kevin: * amuse bouche of asparagus soup * glass of light red - Dolcetto * killer house-made sourdough bread with some whole wheat * appetizer #1 - sweet pea soup with english peas, gnocchi, pork belly and sous vide'd pullet egg. OMG good! * appetizer #2 - charbroiled... More

We tried the grand tasting menu with wine at Persimmon last night to celebrate our 20th anniversary, and everything was perfect, from the service to the creative dishes and the thoughtful wine choices. At every step, we felt the like the chef was having a great time experimenting with unusual taste and textures. Every dish and every wine was a... More

This restaurant is a gem. Dinner was great, service was excellent. We were lucky enough to get a table during restaurant week which made the dinner an excellent value as well. Wine selection was good and the prices were reasonable. A birthday candle made dessert special and we never even mentioned a birthday to the lovely woman waiting on us.... More
