Loved the stuffed lobster, scallops and stuffed chicken. Bread was eh... a little too crispy. Service and food - 4 stars.

I think everything at the Spring House is variable. On the night we had dinner there the food was good and we were lucky to have a wonderful server named Nathaniel. The best thing about this restaurant is the lovely bar and comfortable seating. There are probably better places to eat during the season, but the one meal we had...

Block Island is a very special beautiful place, Ireland meets Malibu, but it is not a dining mecca.
The Spring House is literally a grand, old hotel, with a terrific setting and a great summer ambience with Adirondacks on the lawn and tables on the porch and patio.
It sounds snobby and it is, but to foodies used to dining...

If you are on Block Island and hear of the martini night at the Spring House, go to it. A great time! The entertainer doesn't stop. This guy goes on and on for over 2-hours straight. Would also recommend trying the 'black and blue martini'. Great cocktail.
The Spring House is a nice place to dine, but nothing to rave about. The restaurant is located in an old hotel and has a musty odor.
We stopped in for drinks and the view ... ended up having dinner. The bartender makes a super chocolate martini and really knows about wines. We had pizza for dinner and the lobster mac and cheese ... there was lots of lobster in it!!!!
THIS REVIEW IS FOR THE RESTAURANT - NOT THE HOTEL.
If your meal sucks don't bother asking for Frank the Shank (aka the owner's son/manager). I would give them negative stars if the option was available.
My friend always raves about the Spring House so I went there twice this week - once this past Sunday evening and again tonight...

Or inside the Hugh bar with comfy settes to lounge around. Very special place up on the hill. We always make time to visit while on Block.
High on the hill overlooking the sea is the best location to watch the sunset and sip a martini. Thursday nights is martini night and the crowd gravitates to the porch bar to socialize while watching another wonderful sunset on Block Island. This hotel is popular with brides and I understand that many of them book two years in advance....

As glamorous as block island gets, super awesome drinks and outstanding food. The view is one of the most spectacular on the island.
