They are particular with their rules, but they are for the benefit of all customers. So humor them. Best place to be on the island in a rain storm. Settle in and call a taxi when leaving. Fun cornhole while waiting and they serve you drinks out there.

The service at this place is so awful, I would never go here again. Our waitress, Roberta, was so uninterested in us it was insulting. After her rude attitude reached a climax, we told the Manager, who identified himself as 'George - the GM', he was even more rude. We were so disgusted it ruined our trip to Block Island.... More

Best restaurant on the island. Great burgers. Fresh sushi. Many vegetarian choices. Excellent bar. A view second to none. Open for lunch and dinner. No complaints. Can't wait until spring,

can't beat the view especially if you sit at the outdoor bar with more than a 180 degree vista of the harbor. All the food and drinks are good to very good; our favorites are the peel and eat shrimp, rice and beans, salads. The one down side is the wait which once took 2 hours. I'm not sure what... More

I had the calamari wrap, my husband had sushi. I enjoyed the food, but thought it a bit pricy for what it was. The service was okay at best.

I can’t believe I’ve never written a review for The Oar. This is an absolute must every time we come to Block. Their mudslides are killer, and can’t beat the view. There's nothing better than coming here for happy hour, sitting outside on the Adirondack chairs, and getting some mudslides and food. Their sushi is really good, and so is... More

We always stop here for lunch when we're on the island. The food is consistently good (burgers, sandwiches, etc). Drinks are good too! :) I've had good burgers, chicken salad sandwiches, and my friends have always commented that the seafood choices are delicious. Great views from the deck of the Harbor.

Looking to kill some time before our B&B would let us check in. Most restaurants were closed since it's after Labor Day. Thankfully The Oar was still in business. We got there at 12 and the place was packed by 12:30. Simple menu (plus sushi rolls), nice draft beer selection, great view of Great Salt Pond. We didn't want to... More

I came here for lunch twice on my recent visit to Block Island. There is indoor and outdoor seating with fabulous views. There is a lively bar scene. I ordered from the sushi menu both times--the seared yellowfin tuna plate. It was delicious, fresh, tasty & satisfying. There were free refills on the diet Pepsi. My husband had a salad... More

Food wasn't very memorable but their 'famous' mudslide sure is. It was fantastic. Good views, relaxed atmosphere. They have chairs outside overlooking the new harbor which seems like would be a great place to hang out. We weren't able to because it just happened to be very cold that day but they allow you to take drinks there so on... More
