Having spent the day on Block Island with friends, we choose this wonderful restaurant for both meals and we were not disappointed, service was excellent and the food was just as great, it is a causal dining restaurant, but the views of the New Harbor and the environs is superb! I recommend this restaurant and would return on our next... More

Soup was served after entrees when we reminded it to waitress and after we told her that soup is not a dessert instead of apology she told us that " it always something for the first time" , manager is actually has the same attitude and really don't care, food was badly prepared, on the questions : what kind of... The Oar is a delightful refuge on Block Island. One would not expect it, but the sushi is very good in light of the abundance of great seafood around. The atmosphere is a lot of fun offering an alternative to Water Street if visiting Block Island for a few days whether it be a lunch time or evening visit. Other... More

The Oar is one of our favorite places on Block Island, we usually will ride the loop around the southern part of the island on our bikes then stop at Oar for lunch. They have a big sushi menu and also more typical sanwiches and seafood. Great view, good service but they're always busy. Pretty reasonable prices for the location... More

Upon hearing the reviews, my wife and I checked out The Oar for lunch. The atmosphere is what you want when you come to Block Island; A view of the water, and a beach/nautical feel. The drinks seem to be the main focus here as there was plenty of selection to choose from. The Oar lager was tasty and my... More

What a fun place. My first time to Block Island and I was told The Oar is a must-visit. I had lunch here during my bike ride around the island. Good food and great cocktails! I loved all the outdoor seating and even the outdoor games that were all there for people to play. Gorgeous view. Overall a great place!

Been to the Oar before for drinks and it is a great location and the bartenders are great. This trip we went for lunch and it was just not good. The waitress was AWFUL! No personality and no experience. No greeting, No welcome to the Oar, No Hello, No recommendations, No NOTHING! Just a "you want to order drinks" which... More

It's hard to give anything less than average, or good, to a place that allows you to bring your dog. As with every other place on the island the servers were lovely (thanks Miko) we all had clam chowder (probably tied for #2 with Finns' chowder) fried chicken, sweet potato fries and broccoli slaw. Everything (except the chowder) tasted sweet... More

Ate multiple times during vacation......as always, the best mudslides on the island. Food choices are prlentiful whether looking for a full lunch or just an appetizer.......suchi is great, lobster and scallop rolls are always excellent. Smoked fisk dip at the lawn tables is a nice small appetizer. Staff always friendly. You should't spend time on B.I. Without at least one... More

The Oar overlooks a large marina at Great Salt Pond in the "New Harbor" area of Block Island a couple of miles northwest of Old Harbor, the town center and ferry terminal. Great Salt Pond has ocean access. As such it is popular with boat folks and visitors arriving by ferry. Nothing fancy about this place, but the food is... More
