This used to be a really genuine Block Island hangout when Harry Boudreaux managed things. Now, it's just another Appleby's for tourists. Suishi? Really? Pity.

By the far the best place to get a beer and hang out with friends! They also have great food - from sushi to burgers- I've never been disappointed! Thanks to the people at the OAR for making our Block Island experience awesome every summer!

The Oar was one of my favorite dining spots on Block Island because it had great Adirondack chairs, facing the marina, to sit in while you waited for your table. Unlike its other dining counterparts, the view was a great way to occupy yourself while you faced the inevitable wait for a table during peak season. The food, at the... More

For years I have seen people walking around with "The Oar" shirts and wanted to visit. Definitely worth it. Had some sushi and a mudslide....Was on a "FInd the Best Mudslide" quest in RI. Sorry Oar and National, but Castle Hill wins hands down!

Had lunch at The Oar after biking around the island. Had some ice cold beer on tap and the best beer battered french fries! Nice view over looking the marina and north end of the island. The wait staff was very pleasant.

Disappointing menu. Maybe the mahi-mahi was a bad choice out there in the Atlantic, but it was not good: brick-shaped and dry. A good IPA, though, and a great view.

Chicken fingers, bacon cheese burger and ice cold beers were good. This place is better than others. Service was prompt and friendly. Would we eat here again? Absolutely!

An easy 30 minute stroll from Old Harbor (and the ferry) brought us to New Harbor, where we explored the fascinating cemetery (lots of history) and then had lunch at Oars. Nice fresh fish (ask about the daily specials) and a cutely local atmosphere made it very enjoyable.

The oars are catchy and the location amazing, The clam chowder was excellent. Past that was disappointing for us. Lobster roll at $17 was filled with lobster but nothing else. No flavor, no seasoning. Dry. And lobster is lowest price in years but $17? Not much else was open as its just past the season. Plastic plates are not attractive... More
