The National Hotel Tap & Grille is a full service restaurant serving breakfast, lunch and dinner. The outdoor porch overlooks the harbor and offers a great view of the ocean. The menu specializes in steaks and seafood but has a wide variety for all tastes. We also have an indoor and an outdoor bar with live entertainment every weekend in July and August.

Delicious mussels

We went there for lunch. This restaurant has a nice terrace overlooking the Marina with great views. We had the clam chowder, mussels and Lobster fetuccine. The chowder was really good, one of the best I've tried. The fettuccine was full of lobster meat, together with mushrooms and creamy sauce... read more

While staying at the National, we wanted to give their restaurant a try. We sat outside on a breezy beautiful night with a gorgeous view. The waitstaff was prompt and attentive. Our food was really good. We had steamers, lobster roll and scallops. The food was fresh, tasty and the cocktails were delicious as well. This was the best food... More

First night staying at the National and wanted to try their restaurant. Very cozy, inside and out. We had the caramelized sea scallops and shrimp oreganata - both were excellent. Good service, a nice bottle of wine.... Not inexpensive, but well worth it!

The chowder was really good, one of the best I've tried. The fettuccine was full of lobster meat, together with mushrooms and creamy sauce, really decadent. My husband was very impressed. We had an enjoyable lunch on the veranda overlooking Water St. The lobster roll was full of lobster meat and the clam chowder very good. The service was good but I thought the prices a bit high. I suppose there was a surcharge for the view. Nice place - centrally located - for a meal.

We ordered a shrimp dish and a salad. The menu said nothing about creamed risotto as an accompaniment to the shrimp. We sent the dish back, and the staff was lovely about accommodating our request for a change, but when they sent the new dish, it was sadly inadequate. Seven little pieces of sauteed shrimp and six stalks of asparagus... More

I will start by saying that I am sorry that your experience at the National was not what you would have hoped for. Customer service and feedback are important to us. Our menu does state that the Parmesan and Oreganato Shrimp is served with risotto but we were happy to try to find a preparation that did not include dairy.... More

Good service, good pours, good food, good bartenders. We were stranded on the Island in cold and rain and staying at Ballard's, which was just awful, but the National treated us very well and we were there a LOT because most other places weren't open. Jeff at breakfast was awesome and William makes great drinks.

Thank you for your kind words and for taking the time to review the National. I have shared your compliments with both William and Jeff, as well as the rest of the management team. I hope you will be back when the island is warm and beautiful! More

Tap and Grille is really good for all meals of the day, the lobster is the best thing on the menu, but the surf and turf is really good too. The view is beautiful, and the service is great.

The porch was a perfect atmosphere for a leisurely lunch. The view was amazing! The crab cakes were delicious and full of crab, not breading. Would recommend!

Wrote a review for this place under National Hotel... Overall could have been better... No beer on tap despite the name "Tap & Grille" - only offering was Bud Light. Went with apps for lunch because of the high-ish prices. Clam Chowder was tasty though a little watery. Heirloom tomatoes w/mozzarella were not bad but overpriced. Sweet views of the... More

Thank you for dining at the National while you were on the island. I am surmising by our lack of beer choices that you dined with us on our final weekend of being open for the season. For most of the peak summer months we have 12 draft beers but as we get ready to close we do eliminate them.... More

Let me start by saying you should not call yourself the "Tap & Grille" if you have no beers on tap, just Bud Light in aluminum bottles. Stopped here for lunch on a Sunday -- not impressed by the service, but the New England Clam Chowder, though thin, was tasty. Heirloom tomato salad with mozzarella was not bad either, but... More
