Great place for a scenic lunch

Eating on a porch of a historical hotel overlooking the ferry terminal and the ocean, on a brilliant summer day, gave the Tap a nice head start. The restaurant featured clam chowder soup that was an award winning entry versus other establishments. It was a bit flour laden but otherwise delectable... read more

Tap and Grille is really good for all meals of the day, the lobster is the best thing on the menu, but the surf and turf is really good too. The view is beautiful, and the service is great.

The porch was a perfect atmosphere for a leisurely lunch. The view was amazing! The crab cakes were delicious and full of crab, not breading. Would recommend!

Wrote a review for this place under National Hotel... Overall could have been better... No beer on tap despite the name "Tap & Grille" - only offering was Bud Light. Went with apps for lunch because of the high-ish prices. Clam Chowder was tasty though a little watery. Heirloom tomatoes w/mozzarella were not bad but overpriced. Sweet views of the... More

Thank you for dining at the National while you were on the island. I am surmising by our lack of beer choices that you dined with us on our final weekend of being open for the season. For most of the peak summer months we have 12 draft beers but as we get ready to close we do eliminate them.... More

Let me start by saying you should not call yourself the "Tap & Grille" if you have no beers on tap, just Bud Light in aluminum bottles. Stopped here for lunch on a Sunday -- not impressed by the service, but the New England Clam Chowder, though thin, was tasty. Heirloom tomato salad with mozzarella was not bad either, but... More

What a fab place, great food, service and breathtaking porch view! The lobster roll is to die for. Full of large chunks of great quality lobster meat on a fresh toasted roll. Good selection of wines and beers. A must at Block Island!

On an organized tour to Block Island, we had lunch at The National Hotel Tap & Grille which is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner daily. The National Hotel is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and is located in the heart of Old Harbor. Since it was a beautiful day, we were set up outside to dine... More

Way overpriced, average food. You are paying for the view, not the food. Plenty of better local food around for the price and the lobster roll was average at best for the area. Am I going back? No. Just look around and you'll find better value and better food.

Fish tacos, crab cake sliders and spring rolls were all excellent! We would go back again! The french toast was just okay...too much syrup on them.

We had dinner at the National Tap and Grille and it was pretty good. Just had hot lobster rolls because that was what we were craving and they were pretty good and very fresh, but definitely overpriced. 2 lobster rolls and a beer and the bill was $81. There are definitely other places to go for better food, but you... More
