This place I always like. I started going here when my dad would take me to lunchon Saturdays after he completed work at his office. I have always considered it a mainstay of quality dining in York PA. I have however watchede as the restaurant has slowly become somewhat thread bare over time and am hopeful with time it will... I'm in my mid 50s and I grew up in York, but I haven't lived near here for 30 years. The Yorktowne has been an institution since before my mother was born. It was part if my childhood (in the 1960s, there was a wonderful gift shop off the front entrance). When my mother would shop downtown, she would occasionally... More

This restaurant is a throwback to the glory days of hotel travel. The decor , atmosphere and table settings are elegant. I opted for the Chet's tasting menu with wine pairing. The food was sumptuous, utilizing local ingredients ripe for the season, the service excellent. I can't wait to return.

Area around the hotel was pretty impoverished. We saw a lot of people down and out on their luck. Not sure we would have ventured out after dark but didnt feel unsafe during the daylight hours.

The ambiance of the Commonwealth Room takes you directly to the 1920s. You really do get the feeling that you are being taken to a different time. The Chef's Palate 3 course tasting menu (with and without the wine pairing) is probably the best kept secret of York County. It is an amazing deal for some of the best fine... More

Spouse and I enjoyed our experience. Everything tasted great and was well presented. Service was right on. The space is wonderful. A little expensive. Has never been many others dining while there which makes it a great place to go for almost private dining out.

Who would have guessed you could find a 3 star restaurant in York, PA? Although pricy, each dish was "arranged to please both the eye and palate" as the waiter explained. The salad was a work of art, looking like a bouquet of flowers. And the unusual cucumber/mint sorbet was so refreshing. The duck was perfection, and the Atlantic salmon... More

The Commonwealth Room was a dining experience that was definately worth it. The food was 4 star and the wait staff was top notch. I would have thought I was in an upscale restaurant in any big city in the U.S. Our waiter was funny and helpful. The food was delicious. I would recommend the lobster risotto and lemon cheesecake... This is in the Yorktowne Hotel. Have been there several times for anniversaries and special occasions. Especially enjoyed the fixed price "chef's pallete" multi-course menu. Can also add the specially-selected wine pairings to go with each course. If you enjoy classic old-style hotels, you can have a romantic getaway package from the Yorktowne.
