The Black Dog Cafe has had a checkered history. I'm happy to say that it has been given another incarnation and has been purchased by Joe and Carol Nemec. Executive Chef/General Manager Daryl Dissinger has revamped the menu but managed to retain the quality and still make the menu interesting. Once known as only a "fine dining" establishment, it has... Stopped by later in the evening for drinks and something light. We sat down by the bar- we hadn't made reservations and I think the other seating was nicer dressing than jeans and a t-shirt. Their service was very nice and fast but not rushed. Loved their beer list! Would go there again. Mostly likely would make reservations and eat... More

We had our annual company Christmas party in one of the Black Dog's upstairs rooms last week. We had a group of 16 and ordered off of the menu. The food and the service was fantastic, especially considering that the staff had to navigate the stairs for drinks, appetizers, main course and desert! My prime rib was as good as... More

We had read about this restaurant on TripAdvisor and decided to try it on while in the area. I called for reservations, which were politely taken. When we arrived, we found it difficult to determine where exactly the entrance was! We walked through two dining rooms and were seated opposite the bar, between the back exit door and the kitchen... We just keep coming back. The bar is fun to sit at and enjoy a delicious cocktail (still waiting for my Pumpkin Martini). The meals are consistently great. I have never had something that I wouldn't order again. If you can, request MaryAnn to be your server. She describes the meals perfectly and I have always enjoyed her recommendations.

My wife and I have been going here for about 3 years now, and have never had any complaints. If something is not to your liking, they will fix it at all costs. You'll never leave there hungry either. I am a big eater, and I always have another meal to take home. The servers are friendly and efficient. Prime... More

Had a cup of their tomato/avocado combination soup with crab, it was delicious. The new owners brought back the "triple special"!! They call it "the feast". You can choose either 2 ($17.99) or 3 ($21.00) entree's from a list and you get a smaller sampling of each! To me that is incredible being able to sample more than one entree'.... More

From the service at the bar: excellent burgers and crabcake served with excellent onion rings, friendly service by the bar maid to the main dining room where service and food couldn't be better. Try the Shrimp Magnolia or crabcake. Desserts are to die for, chocolate cake and or in house made ice cream. A great find in an off the... More
