The restaurant was recently opened by new owners. We ate there once since then and were not real happy with the food. The service was slow, there were only 2 or 3 tables being served. The wait staff was pleasant. I ordered fish and chips and the fish was very overcooked. We will try this place... read more

Workers never had received pay," for the whole month, and they never gave breaks to underage workers,,

The new Black Dog is nothing like the old Black Dog!! We were soooo disappointed. Oue prime rib was fatty, the winked baked potato looked like it was baked for six hours, the signature nacho garnish was nothing more than deep fried tortia chips. I will never do back again. The menu was not the least bit cohesive and many... More

We were so excited to learn the Black Dog was opening again. Our first meal was passable, the next time we went on a Sunday. It had snowed a little. While the signs say they open at 11 a.m., walks were not cleared and no signs of life at 12 noon. We gave them another try with another passable meal, then... More

We visited the re-opened restaurant in early January. We had been regular customers under different ownership, and we were SO thrilled it was open again! I splurged that night and ordered the Hatchett Steak for $36. I was told - by the waitress - that this was a prime cut of meat and huge. When it arrived at our table,... More

The Black Dog Cafe has had a checkered history. I'm happy to say that it has been given another incarnation and has been purchased by Joe and Carol Nemec. Executive Chef/General Manager Daryl Dissinger has revamped the menu but managed to retain the quality and still make the menu interesting. Once known as only a "fine dining" establishment, it has... Stopped by later in the evening for drinks and something light. We sat down by the bar- we hadn't made reservations and I think the other seating was nicer dressing than jeans and a t-shirt. Their service was very nice and fast but not rushed. Loved their beer list! Would go there again. Mostly likely would make reservations and eat... More

We had our annual company Christmas party in one of the Black Dog's upstairs rooms last week. We had a group of 16 and ordered off of the menu. The food and the service was fantastic, especially considering that the staff had to navigate the stairs for drinks, appetizers, main course and desert! My prime rib was as good as... More

We had read about this restaurant on TripAdvisor and decided to try it on while in the area. I called for reservations, which were politely taken. When we arrived, we found it difficult to determine where exactly the entrance was! We walked through two dining rooms and were seated opposite the bar, between the back exit door and the kitchen... We just keep coming back. The bar is fun to sit at and enjoy a delicious cocktail (still waiting for my Pumpkin Martini). The meals are consistently great. I have never had something that I wouldn't order again. If you can, request MaryAnn to be your server. She describes the meals perfectly and I have always enjoyed her recommendations.
