Solid sushi

My husband and I are big sushi fans, and Ooka always delivers quality product. Our favorite standard is tuna sushi, which is always tasty, but what makes Ooka stand out is the sea bass with foie gras. It is maybe my favorite bite of food on earth. The combination of rice, fish, foie and the... read more

This Japanese/hibachi restaurant is resting on its laurels. We've eaten here before and had a decent meal. This one was not. We ate at the hibachi, but I chose a meal from the main menu, which we were told was fine. My dinner was a series of missteps, and we were literally rushed out of the door. About two bites... More

I guess this is Japanese food for the American masses? No thanks. Of the many dishes we sampled, dumplings were good, edamame average, tofu extremely bland (and none of the advertised bonita flakes could be discerned), baked mussels literally inedible-- raw mussels topped with gloppy baked something-or-other. Black cod 'with eggplant' was served with, I'm not kidding, 2 charred slivers... More

Excellent sushi, and the cooked meals are also very good. At my last visit, we ate at the grill. Some of my friends had diet issues; low salt, shrimp allergies. The chef handled them beautifully, separating the low salt items before adding soy sauce, cooking the shrimp after the group food was prepared to avoid cross contamination. His care was... More

Great food. Very friendly and fast service. No alcohol license so BYOB. I had the a la cart menu and the seared spicy tuna was really good. Excellent Garden in a glass dessert too.

Service is so and so but not bad. Food is great. The sushi is well made. I always go for the 'Taste of Ooka' which is on the dinner menu - it's basically like a Bento box.

The decoration is very nice. However, as we walked in there were two unpleasant odors, which should have made us just turn around. Once was a greasy heaviness in the air – the kind that sticks on your clothes. The other was a cleaning/disinfectant odor – very unpleasant when dining. We saw one side was hibachi dining, the other was... More

I tried A Taste of Ooka which is a sampler platter. The food was wonderful and beautifully arranged on the plate. My favorite item was the tempura lobster. The atmosphere was very elegant and the service first-rate. I will definitely return.

This was tasty and we'll prepared sushi and other Japanese goodies. We ordered for appies the edamame, agadeshi tofu, and miso black Sable with eggplant. Roz ordered the sesame chicken - excellent. I had the haru roll - excellent tuna and the Salmon crispy roll. - VERY GOOD. The others ordered abingdon healthy roll special. Service was good.
