We were greeted warmly by one of the wait staff and told that we could sit anywhere. Once seated, a waitress placed menus on the table and told us the specials for the evening. We placed our drink orders--Murphy's Red Ale and Johnny Appleseed Hard Apple Cider-- and then looked over the extensive menu. After putting our drinks down on... More

Depends on which day of the week you go but majority of the time this place delivers. Good food. Good beer selection. They now offer their locally brewed beer.

The locals kept streaming in as we at dinner. It's a popular place with overly generous portions (we had to take half home). My husband's Philly cheesesteak was magnificent--the steak was so tender. They also have more than a dozen microbrewed beers that he enjoyed sampling. I wish they had sweet potato fries.

We were seated immediately even without reservations on a Saturday night. Appetizer fried mozzarella was light and not greasy. Extensive beer menu pleased my husband and son-in-law who both tried a house brewed beer. I had a glass of Pinot Grigio and was pleasantly surprised. Not many gluten free options, but I ordered the Steel City Brisket sandwich and didn't... More

I should have known better than to order calamari at a restaurant in central PA, but alas I fell victim to their grand description about it being fresh from RI. The actual squid itself may have been delightful, but it was hard to tell, as their prep left much to be desired. It was served fairly limp and lukewarm. However,... More

Good pub atmosphere, but prepare for cold and damp. We received kind service, an order error was corrected efficiently. Food was good. Selection was limited: they were out of half of the items we tried to order. Surprisingly the high-end fish was best in its league, while the famous burger did not come close to Steak House's offering. Local featured... More

My family visited Wellsboro House on the recommendation of a co-worker, while on a hiking vacation at the Pennsylvania Grand Canyon. I loved the experience on many levels. First, I told our server about my food allergy, and she patiently checked with the staff for each item I considered ordering. I loved the shrine to Philadelphia sports teams and heroes... More

This was our first visit to the Wellsboro house. Nice atmosphere, good food and great selection of beer! We'll go back again.

I would only recommend this place for the beer. I have never had a meal here that I left satisfied with. My last visit I had a crab chowder that was ok, but extremely over priced. I have never been impressed with the food, and have experienced some service issues as well. They have a great variety of craft beer... More
