...then head to Shorty's. A simple menu with hot dogs, hamburgers, and fries are the mainstay of the lunchtime crowd. This place is a fixture in Washington. If you want a fancy decor, this place isn't for you. However, if you're in the mood for a hot dog and some fries, then put Shorty's on your list for a quick... More

This should be on Diners, Drive-in and Dives. Could almost fit all three. Be sure you are eating at the Shorty's on West Chestnut. DO NOT BE PUT OFF BY SURROUNDING PLACES. Been there since the 1930's and owned by same family. You have to try the hot dog with everything and don't forget the fries with gravy. Yes fries... More

Shorty's seemingly has been around for ever. The rustic charm of the downtown location is exemplified by the booths that are likely 50 years old and the waitress calling out of your order to the cooks. Although they serve other food, everyone goes for the hotdogs and the fries with gravy. The kids just love to go here for lunch!... More

I have been eating as Shorty's for as long as I can remember. Shorty's has been around longer than me. Since I moved away from Washington, I have made a special trip to Shorty's each time I'm in the area. This time I was disappointed. They have cut down on the chili on the hot dogs, the dogs don't have... More

I'm from TN and was visiting the area with a friend who came from there. She raved about the hot dogs at Shorty's so she had to take me. Talk about disappointment. To call the hot dog mediocre would be kind. It had no taste. The fries taste like those you buy frozen and bake in your oven. McDonald's fries... More

Inexpensive delicious empty calories. Not an item on the menu with one iota of nutritional value, & that is a wonderful thing. 2 chili dogs with a side of fries served in a lunch sized brown paper bag. Take it out and sit outside on the street side benches.

I understand that this has been a neighborhood favorite for decades, but where are all of the options? Would it hurt to have chili and cheese as a hot dog topping, or is it just mustard and ketchup? The prices are cheap and they have a quick turn-around. Atmosphere could use some updating.

I took my husband there as one of his gifts for our 14 Days of Love leading up to Valentine's Day. He loves hot dogs and I've heard from so many local people that Shorty's is the place to go. I'm not a big hot dog person so I got the hamburger-big mistake. It wasn't very good but I did... More

If u want a boiled hotdog then this is your place. Small menu. Dirty dirty dirty old building. When we moved here everyone said to go there and I'm shocked anyone would ever reccomend this place... The chilli looked awful and it was. Very unprofessional presentation. Will never go here again.
