I had the surf and turf, steak was cooked perfectly and the salmon was beautifully seasoned and I could practically drink that sauce! Some sort of seafood Alfredo yummy! Waitress was friendly, it was very busy so I suggest getting there early. Only critic is the waitress was nice but was clearly chewing food, which is unprofessional. And you could... More

Al n' Rubens can be characterized as "a diamond in the rough" with an uninteresting exterior or interior, but very tasty main courses. I enjoyed the crab cakes with vegies which were both delicious and memorable. A small salad was included and okay. The price was reasonable, but not cheap. The three piece band provided nice background music, but nothing... More

What a special place. The food is exceptional and served in very large quantities. I highly recommend the Veal but everything was very very good. If the food wasn't enough to bring you back I was there when there was a live Jazz Band that I would have paid to see but was free...( I did leave a tip for... More

Stopped by on our way through town and caught the tail end of thier Saturday brunch. Wonderful, homemade-style waffles! Crab cake sandwich delicious and deep dish apple pie was wonderful. Low budget decor is deceiving--food and service are wonderful. Will definitely stop by again!

This is a great place for dining and listening to great entertainment. The food is fantastic, the owners are wonderful, and the entertainment is incredible. I must admit, the format/decor is a little misleading. The food served would rival food served by the best restaurants in any big city. And I have yet to hear a singer or small band... More

I agree with the reviews concerning the decor. But since most Americans refuse to dress respectfully for restaurants; church, etc why criticize a place not being super decorated? No scenic view; not very appropriate for special occasions; no delivery, not romantic, no outdoor seating.. If the goal is excellent food then this place is for you. I simply ADORE the... More

One of the things I love about Trip Advisor, is the efforts of the community to share their experiences as promptly and honestly as possible. We have all read reviews and wondered if they were indeed real or not. This review is very real. We were working out of town, and I had found Al an Ruben's online, and had... More

We are from Florida visiting friends in Pennsylvania who recommended we go. Had some of the best soft shell crabs I've ever had. The greens and beans were outstanding. The other meals were very nice. Staff was very friendly and service was good. Nice gem of a restaurant in the area.

It doesn't look like much from the outside, and it leaves a lot to be desired on the inside, at least as far as decor goes. The main room's layout is a bit disconcerting. The food is fabulous. Italian-ish, well developed and tasty. The wait staff is knowledgeable and efficient. I was hoping to get the recipe (we live 4... More

Top notch yummy food and service. We were four hours away from home and my husband says this place is worth a day trip for dinner again :)
