great food, overpriced, noisy

This is a great place for lunch, but not dinner. The food is great. The restaurant is noisy. The prices are high. The ambiance is not good.

Water glass was in need of polishing or cleaning, that was the first turnoff. Then out came the crab, corn and mushroom chowder (at room temperature), really? I fail to see why soups can't be served hot. Next, out came the calamari and crawfish tacos served with a bland white rice. I'm not sure why the rice was on the... More

We loved this place! The only place around for Cajun/Creole dishes!! Both look and feel of NOLA! Service was superb and the food was excellent. The menu is so diverse, anyone would have no problem finding something to appeal to them!

Very nice restaurant in downtown. Has the usual Po-boys, gumbo, jambalaya, red beans etc. that you would expect. Keep in mind that I am highly critical of this type of cooking. I have spent a lot of time in the Texas, Louisiana gulf area and would eat red beans and rice for breakfast lunch and dinner. My wife absolutely loves... More

We went to Spats for an early Valentines Day dinner. Although they were totally booked they found a two-top in the back that was perfect for us. The food is a bit pricey but several of the entrees are offered in a demi size for a reduced price. The food has a Cajun theme and the seafood is excellent. I... More

Given it is located directly across the street from the Penn St and hence maybe a student hangout, all that said, we had a great meal. The menu is Cajun. The Dirty Jambalaya was delicious.

I had such a difficult time deciding what to get... too many amazing options! Everything that my date and I did end up getting was amazing. Great gator bites! My picky date even had some & enjoyed them. The creme brûlée to end the meal was oh so good. And the servers are very accommodating. I can't wait to go... More

Finally. A menu that is interesting, offering so many possiblitites for your dinner that it was actually a little scary. What if I pass up something really good, for something really good? This restaurant is set right in the middle of State College Penn State and on a Thursday night with no obvious college activity going on (ie Penn State... More

This is the second time I've had a bad experience here. I understand that every restaurant can have a bad night, but 2 bad experiences within one year is too much. The drinks didn't come until the main course was delivered and they were badly made. The waitress was fine until I complained about the drinks. Instead of attempting apologize,... More

I was skeptical about eating here when my girlfriend made the reservation. I've been downstairs to the Rathskellar dozens (ok probably hundreds) of times to drink and I just assumed the quality of the food upstairs would be reflected by the conditions of the bar downstairs. I am so relieved to admit I was wrong. I've eaten everywhere in State... More
