Nice Atmosphere and very good food

If you are looking for a cancun or creole food this is the place to go. I have never had a bad meal here.

Stopped in without a reservation which wasn't a problem for them. Great service! Very responsive and helpful. Atmosphere is nice with New Orleans theme. Server explained they had recently changed the menu. Lots of good choices but almost all dishes have spinach in them. I ordered crab cakes with steak as I don't care for spinach, only to find it... Service was very good and we were seated upon arrival. Wife's beet salad was large enough for sharing and delicious with the cajun honey dressing. My Po'Boy was delightful with delicious oysters and a spicy olive salad that I may have preferred on the side rather than on top of the po'boy as the dressing was wet and moistened the... More

I live in state college and oh my gosh do I eat out... I have been to just about every restaurant here. Not to mention every place I have ever gone in my lifetime. NEVER have I ever needed to tell someone out there how truly delicious my dinner was!!! The best dinner I have had since the last dinner... More

We have been coming to Spats for years when we visited our daughter at PSU. This was graduation weekend and we had to have the final dinner at Spats. In spite of the crowds on campus, Spats had high quality food and attentive service as always. It is not an inexpensive meal nor a quick one. But if you want... More

On a brief trip to PSU we stopped in to this cute Cajun speakeasy right in State College. We had a very heavy dinner for too much money. The sauces were too rich with butter and cream, and both dishes (my daughter and I switched midway through the meal) tasted the same. The short rib egg role appetizer was excellent.... More

Great service, great food, nice atmosphere. The cat fish was wonderful. Enjoyed the jumbalia. Decent wine list. Gets busy. Recommend a reservation, especially if you want to sit in the front window, and watch the students walk by

We just had dinner here tonight. The food was very good, the best we've found in State College. The only feeback we have is our server was not the same caliber as the food. We waited too long for our beverages to be refilled, our dirty dishes sat too long. We would go back for sure!

This is a great place for lunch, but not dinner. The food is great. The restaurant is noisy. The prices are high. The ambiance is not good.

Water glass was in need of polishing or cleaning, that was the first turnoff. Then out came the crab, corn and mushroom chowder (at room temperature), really? I fail to see why soups can't be served hot. Next, out came the calamari and crawfish tacos served with a bland white rice. I'm not sure why the rice was on the... More
