Four of us had lunch here and two of us were blown away by our meal while the other two were not. That having been said, everyone was still satisfied. I had the fried shrimp po-boy, which was outstanding. The shrimp was still very warm and crispy and the sandwich was perfectly seasoned. There... read more

A wonderful place with great character. Food is consistently good and creative. It is rather noisy, with a wood floor and high tin ceiling. Better when it's not crazy busy. This is a restaurant that makes going downtown worth while.

Though this place is still far from what you would expect from a southern cajun restaurant, it has some of the elements. The cosy easy atmosphere, the spicy (not hot) food, jazz, and huricanes. Certainly worth a visit if you are fond of the cajun/creole kitchen, and if you do not expect the authentic taste and texture, you wont be... More

We eat here every year when visiting State College for the Pennsylvania Special Olympics. We always have a great experience. Ordered the delicious Filet with truffle sauce a la Bordelaise. Mine came a bit overdone ( wife's was perfect ) the waitress offered to bring a new steak but frankly, even the overdone version was simply delicious. The waitress comped... More

State College has a limited selection of better restaurants, but this one is always at the top of my list. The food is fresh and appealing and the restaurant is comfortable and inviting. It's not fancy, but it offers a casual elegance that is soul-satisfying. It has a real Cajun flavor and is always a treat.

If you are looking for a cancun or creole food this is the place to go. I have never had a bad meal here.

Stopped in without a reservation which wasn't a problem for them. Great service! Very responsive and helpful. Atmosphere is nice with New Orleans theme. Server explained they had recently changed the menu. Lots of good choices but almost all dishes have spinach in them. I ordered crab cakes with steak as I don't care for spinach, only to find it... Service was very good and we were seated upon arrival. Wife's beet salad was large enough for sharing and delicious with the cajun honey dressing. My Po'Boy was delightful with delicious oysters and a spicy olive salad that I may have preferred on the side rather than on top of the po'boy as the dressing was wet and moistened the... More

I live in state college and oh my gosh do I eat out... I have been to just about every restaurant here. Not to mention every place I have ever gone in my lifetime. NEVER have I ever needed to tell someone out there how truly delicious my dinner was!!! The best dinner I have had since the last dinner... More

We have been coming to Spats for years when we visited our daughter at PSU. This was graduation weekend and we had to have the final dinner at Spats. In spite of the crowds on campus, Spats had high quality food and attentive service as always. It is not an inexpensive meal nor a quick one. But if you want... More
