Description: Each Harrison's Wine Grill menu reflects Chef Harrison's love of local...
Each Harrison's Wine Grill menu reflects Chef Harrison's love of local ingredients. At our locally owned, award winning restaurant in State College, we go out of our way to find and use the best products available. Whenever possible, we purchase ingredients from local Pennsylvania growers and purveyors, in particular ones who arrive at the back door with freshly harvested offerings like elephant garlic, fresh green beans, or wild morel mushrooms. When a good quality ingredient is not available locally, we go out of market to find it, especially seasonal seafood. Full bar includes local microbrews on tap and over 20 wines by the glass. Located two minutes from Penn State's main campus, Harrison's is located within the State College Hilton Garden Inn. Harrison's is upscale yet casual, and a favorite of State College locals, Penn State alumni and students. Voted State College's Best Caterer, Best Wait Staff & Best Health Menu by the readers of State College Magazine.

Odd ambiance, but great food

I'm not big on gourmet, but everything I've had at Harrison's is very good, their catering is also great. The way that they have it situated inside of the hotel is a little strange, you feel like you're partly in the lobby, but overall I really like it.

When we ate dinner there recently, the waitress brought the wrong bottle of wine. We didn't notice this until after she opened it because she failed to show my husband the bottle 1st. She apologized but made no offer to compensate us. When we decided to order a 2nd bottle, she made sure she brought the original one we ordered.... More

Dear lovetheFingerLakes13, I am truly sorry to hear about this mix up, but more so, I am disappointed to hear that your server did not deal with the situation appropriately and bring her mistake to a manager's attention. Had I known at the time, I certainly would have corrected this situation immediately. I would have compensated you then, and I... More

While staying at the Hilton Garden in this restaurant not only was conveniently located but was delicious! The butternut squash soup was amazing! I was also able to get the wine flights 1/2 off for happy hour. And if you are a Hilton honors member they are currently giving out coupons for 500 bonus points if you spend $25 or... More

Dear Ashton W, I am so pleased to hear that you enjoyed dining with us. The Butternut Squash Bisque is certainly a huge customer favorite, and our 1/2 price Wine Flights from 5-6pm daily are a big draw as well. Thank you for taking the time to write about your experience, and we hope to see you again on your... More

In their busyness, we had a non-hurried enjoyable light meal. The wait was not long, friendly waitresses, and treated with honor even if we were only hungry for soup. Soup flavor so were a bit bland. I had Squash Bisque and my husband had Beef Noodle. The Egg Roll was attractively served on saucer with a touch of green and... More

I ate my delicious parsnip Parmesan soup but it was barely warm:( - -- the beef and potato soup was also good but not hot in temperature. The butternut squash was ok . I would think at 5 pm the appetizer soups would be hot. The sandwiches and salads were good - and a good size: a beef with bleu... More

I don't expect hotel restaurants to be good, and I often look instead for the most interesting and/or best-rated restaurant in an area. This time I was surprised to find that search led me to Harrison's - IN MY HOTEL! Sure enough, there were several offerings for vegetarians like me; I especially enjoyed a butternut squash soup. The wine selections... More

We chose Harrison's because it offers excellent food and service, and quiet and elegant decor. They offer a seasonal menu as well as a regular menu and we both enjoyed filet mignon, one with French Beurre Rouge sauce and the other with herbed sauce. Attentive wait staff who made good suggestions. Thanks for making our celebration of early retirement special!

My husband and I visited this past weekend. We eat out frequently so we are pretty familiar with restaurants in three states. Food was very good but overpriced compared to similar restaurants. About 15 to 20 percent higher than comparables. Food was however prepared well and presented attractively. Our big issue however was the seriously overpriced wine. At $9.00 a... More

State College isn't 'small' but it certainly isn't a large city, located just inside the lobby of a hotel, the restaurant has an open well lite feeling - and a bit noisy, not large with only a few tables, the staff was attentive to our group of about 18, we were pleased with the modest wine selection except that the...
