Description: Each Harrison's Wine Grill menu reflects Chef Harrison's love of local ingredients. At our locally owned, award winning restaurant in State College, we go out of our way to find and use the best products available. Whenever possible, we purchase ingredients from local Pennsylvania growers and purveyors, in particular ones who arrive at the back door with freshly harvested offerings like elephant garlic, fresh green beans, or wild morel mushrooms. When a good quality ingredient is not available locally, we go out of market to find it, especially seasonal seafood. Full bar includes local microbrews on tap and over 20 wines by the glass. Located two minutes from Penn State's main campus, Harrison's is located within the State College Hilton Garden Inn. Harrison's is upscale yet casual, and a favorite of State College locals, Penn State alumni and students. Voted State College's Best Caterer, Best Wait Staff & Best Health Menu by the readers of State College Magazine.

I love this place except some of the staff are not so pleasant. My visit this week required me to flag down the waitress to place a drink order after she passed the table several times without stopping. She was also obviously irritated that we did not order full meal - instead opting for appetizers and desserts with our wine... More

Thank you for your nice comments about our food and restaurant. We are sorry to hear that the service you received that evening was not satisfactory. I have followed up with the staff about this. Susan, who I believe was your server, had a difficult section that night with a large party that required a lot of attention at times.... More

I normally do not write reviews but, in light of my experience and three others I have to counter the last review. I am sure it is all in the perception of the individual, so this is not an attack on her or even what she wrote. Rather, my assessment and supported by 3 other professionals (age 55 to 60),... More

Harrison's used to be our go to 'special occasion' restaurant. However as time has gone by we no longer find the regular menu interesting. Most of the dishes on the main menu are boring and bland. They try to shake things up once in a while with their special feature menu which for us turned out to be a complete... More

Thank you for letting us know – we always appreciate feedback so we can make changes and improvements as needed. In preparation for this menu, we spent time at a Peruvian restaurant watching technique, learning about ingredients, and finding out what makes the Peruvian food characteristic. It is important to us that it is being made correctly. I have checked... More

Ate here while in State College on business. Staff was very friendly and atmosphere was nice, but food was just average. I ordered off the buy local buy fresh section of menu but was not overwhelmed. Meal was good but not great.

I absolutely love harrisons- I always know that they'll have several veg options. I first came here in 2011 after discovering the tait farms "harrisons olive and fig spread." So unique and delicious, just like the restaurant. Some of my favorites are the pappardelle, and the gnocchi (they stipulate on the menu that it's available as veg). On my most... More

The food, I liked. The atmosphere is another story. While the menu was certainly interesting and well executed, I could never lose sight of the fact that I was eating in a hotel lobby. They try to hide the fact, but it just never felt like I was in a fine dining establishment, and the food (and prices) were those... More

Family dinner for 15 people. Good food and service. Recommend it for any occasion. Goat cheese fritters with fig/olive relish on a bed of greens is outstanding! Autumn beet salad is also one of my favorites.

When Harrison's opened years ago on Atherton their food was spot on and a breath of fresh air for an otherwise dull dining town. Then, when they made the transition to the Hilton Garden their food maintained the excellent standards and their menus continued to be delightful. About 2 years ago my family and I started to see some changes... More

Hello Knight 130: We are very sorry that you have had food that has not met up to our usual standards (and glad that your service did meet high expectations)! We would much appreciate it if you would email (or call) directly and let us know the specifics so that we can follow up with the staff working that evening... More

We were staying at the hotel and started at the bar here, but eventually decided to just stay for dinner. We were a little hesitant, because the prices are high, but we were VERY happy we decided to stay for dinner. The prices were completely appropriate for the food served. There were 5 of us and we all loved our... More

I met up with a couple of friends at Harrisons, who were staying at the Hilton Garden Inn. Being a local, I would have never visited Harrison's otherwise. We had planned on just having a drink at the bar before heading into town for dinner. However, the bartender convinced us to check out the menu. We all really enjoyed our... More
