I came on here to talk this place up, but it appears from other comments they might not be consistent. At any rate, I enjoyed my visit there. I liked their cocktail menu and the waitress, Cassy, was very attentive and helpful. I ordered the salmon special which was one of the better meals I had while in State College... More

We came here on a Wednesday late afternoon just to check the place out. We ordered beer, a slice of pizza and Buffalo Wing Dip. YUCK. The pizza was nothing great. The chicken in the dip tasted like it was microwaved. Nothing great about it. Service was ok--food came slow--took about 30 minutes to get one slice of pizza and... More

Bouncers were unnecessarily rude and once we got in the bar the bartender openly acknowledged that he was taking a lot time to serve me and then continued to serve others. One to two bartenders for such a high volume of customers is not okay. "Head" bartender was enjoying his night more than making sure the customers enjoy theirs.

Went to State College for a Penn State Hockey Game at the new Pegula Ice Arena. Stopped at Bill Pickle's Tap Room for a quick beer and lunch before the game. Good place for a beer and watch sports. Service was good. Just had the tomato basil soup with grilled cheese. above average. I have tried the Corner Room next... More

The place is infested with 50 yr old men trying to relive their college days. every waitress/bartender is very rude and must be begged to serve you. I waited 20 mins and no one would even serve our table

We visited Pickles on a lazy non-football weekend. The restaurant and bar had a decent crowd watching the day's early football games on their multiple screens. I was hungry for a good Reuben and I wasn't disappointed. The meat wasn't fatty which can be a nuisance with Reubens. I tried their peanut butter hot wings after initially turning up my... More

This is a great college town bar. The staff is excellent. They are very personable and friendly. The only thing preventing an excellent is the food. They share a kitchen with the Corner Room in State College, a great place for breakfast but a bust for other meals. After a home football game, this is the place to be.

Watch your money at the bar, bartender clearly tried to scam me. I got a token apology from him after he was busted. Also, bathroom sink had no running water. Overall, place appears to be going downhill. My food review is from a previous visit but last night was my last.

This place is a great place to stop in, with a friend, and have a drink. It's not a family friendly place (go next door to Corner Room for that) and it does not have good food (go upstairs for that to Allen Street Grill) but it's a great atmosphere for a mid-day drink.
