Simple and good!

Let's be frank, this is not fine dining. Nick's is a down and dirty local joint with a limited, but excellent, food selection. They usually only have a few beer choices, but you should drink Yuengling here anyway! :) The roast beef, turkey and pork 'combo' sandwiches are the main attraction... read more

The original is at 20th and Jackson, but I didn't want to fight the Schuylkill. Nick's is a legendary Roast Beef joint. If you thought "Cheez wit' or plain wit'out) was the end of Philly culinary jargon, you have not been to Nick's. This is a "Beef Combo, operated, on-the-outs, overboard.) Translated, it is a beef with provolone, Kaiser roll... More

At 10am I pulled into this location, who shares their parking lot with a nail salon next door. Since they don't open until 11am (no one was in the parking lot), I decided to get my nails done and then return for lunch after. Before I turned off my car, a very rude man approached the window and shouted that... More

On the plus side are lots of screens to watch sports events, beers on tap,and the sandwiches. When ordering sandwiches, get the fries with gravy. The downsides are the limited parking, noise inside, and the dining area need a good cleaning.

Very casual neighborhood joint. The roast beef sandwiches wet & loaded are killer. Must get roasted hots and horseradish piled high. Top off your meal with gravy fries and or onion rings. Yes it is too much food especially because Stella is on tap! Plan a nap. It's so worth it!

Many years ago, Nick's in South Philly was a real destination and worth the drive from the western mainline. Then, it was sold and was no longer worth the trip. I was so happy to find the original Nick's quality back in Springfield. It's a limited menu but, its all you need. My favorite is the roast beef combo overboard... More

This was my first time stopping in for a sandwich and I have lived in the area for 3 years. I went with my husband and we sat at the bar. We each ordered a beer, sandwich and fries. He had the roast pork, which was very good. I had the roast beef, which was outstanding. We also had the... More

Hand carved Roast beef or Pork not hand carved using a slicer. Extremely fresh rolls, and the gravy is to die for. You wont find a Better roast beef sandwich for miles. ( many miles ) . I found a place 400 miles away that was better, only because they served the hand carved beef on a home made caramelized... More

I went to this restaurant as I have , with my wife, many times in the past. But last Wednesday ,July 24 2013 at 9:15 PM I went myself , and was told by the bar tender " We are OUT of Beef ! " I was shocked ! So I rode my HOG down to South Philly and got... More

If you have never tried a nicks roast beef sandwich you have not eaten one of the best sandwiches on the planet. I could eat these sandwiches for breakfast, lunch and dinner
