My girlfriend and I were visiting Pittsburgh last weekend and we decided to check out Altius as it was highly rated on tripadvisor. The interior is very modern and has a great view of the city from what seems like all tables. Everything that was served was delicious. The dining experience was tarnished by poor service. We requested the wine... More

At the top of the Duquesne Incline is this well-appointed restaurant with views of downtown from virtually every table. The service is friendly and attentive while never intrusive. The menu had interesting choices--the beet terrine was a knockout--and the beer and wine list was thoughtfully put together. The gnocchi could have been lighter, but I'm spoiled by having had them... I went to Altius for my birthday. I wanted to try it because it has only been open for a few months. It has a limited menu, but the desserets are good. Also you can have a great view of the city from any seat.

Take your friends or colleagues to Altius to show them the splendor of Pittsburgh through the picture windows. Enjoy your confidence that the meal will be excellent as well, unlike neighboring venues which share the view but have little else to offer.

Altius is a welcome upgrade to an old Pittsburgh Restaurant with one of the best views of the City you could ask for. We love to try new establishments when ever we are out. Altius ranks near the top of the crowd. The menu was slightly limited but was well executed. The portions were generous with out being wasteful. We... More

The location (next to the Duquesne incline), view, atmosphere, service, and wine list were all quite impressive. However, the food menu and quality did leave a lot to be desired. The menu was largely lacking creativity, and the execution of the food was equally bland. The scallop appetizer featured some less-than-fresh tasting scallops, the entrees were poorly seasoned, proteins were... More

We have had the pleasure of dining at Altius on two occasions recently and were amazed both times. The food is wonderful, from the truffle oil popcorn on the table, to the home baked breads to the creative entrees and desserts. The General Manager, Alan Uchrinscko, is an excellent sommelier. For our second visit, we asked Alan to plan a... More

For me , i am perfectly happy at Longhorn Steakhouse, a local Italian place or even Primanti's but for a special occasion, or for entertaining out of town friends, I have found my new home. I never believed in paying a sizeable amount to "eat out" but ALTIUS was worth the pricier dinner. Anyone visiting Pittsburgh will "eat up" the... More
