This restaurant is on the second floor overlooking the market square. Great mexican food and drinks. Relax and enjoy, If you are in a rush go to a fast food place. Las Velas is a relaxing experience.

the only reason this doesn't get the full 5 is because even though I was standing in market square I couldn't find it. it may well be above the bakery...but the door is actually right next to diamond grille. so I searched fir close to 15 min lioking for it based on the directions in trip advisor. I had chips... More

I visit pittsburgh every other month. I stumbled across this restaurant. I love Margaritas and Fajitas. This is the perfect place for a woman traveling alone to feel comfortable and enjoy great food.

We came here for a farewell lunch for a team member. The chips, salsa, and guacamole were good. Unfortunately, we had scraped the bottom of the bowls long before our waiter came to take our order - after we had been there for 45 minutes. Since the written or unwritten standard at most companies is a one-hour lunch break (or... More

I've come here twice, both for lunch, and both on business. It's conveniently located in Market Square and has been busy both visits. The menu is just long enough that I have a tough time deciding what to eat, and both meals I've had were great. I got enchiladas the first visit, and the las vegas combo most recently. I... More

After walking around in town for the day I found this awesome place with a wonderful view of market square. The margarita was fresh and delicious. The chips and homemade salsa were incredible. I had the chipotle chicken with rice and it could be shared. The portion was gigantic. The menu was very diverse. I loved the atmosphere at the... More

Mexican Food. Should be fresh, beautiful, tasty, wholesome. Restaurant should be warm, welcoming, attractive, spotless. Las Velas does all right in all of these areas but is not a standout by any means. The reason for the "average" rating has to do more with the wait staff than any other component of the restaurant. Our server was rude, disinterested, put... More

Walking in the place looked promising, nicely decorated and a good atmosphere. However, standing around for several minutes for a hostess to return and seat us should have been our first clue. Not sure what was happening because the place seemed well-staffed and it wasn't very crowded at 4:00 on a Sunday, but you'd have thought it was packed and... More

Server disappeared for thirty minutes, came back with the explanation that she had a large table elsewhere. Gee, thanks. Food is very average Mexican fare. Nothing to write home about.
