Being formerly in management of a property that has both four and five diamond restaurants, I have always found The Carlton, as the most impressive restaurant. From their staff, the atmosphere and of course the food, it is as fine a restaurant should be. Recently, some colleagues were in from the west coast and I sent them there for dinner.... More

We were visiting our son since he moved to Pittsburgh for a job. We wanted something nice with good food. The Carllton has a great atmosphere, but the service was nothing special except for the water staff who kept filing our glasses. I ordered soup and my son an appetizer. It was tepid. The table next to us sent their... More

I went with a large party of my colleagues from work and got to sit in the back dining room and it was a great experience. I had the crab and shrimp pasta and it was delicious! Go for dessert as well!

Without a doubt our favorite here in downtown Pittsburgh, perhaps anywheres the world. Last nights wine dinner was superb. The presentation, the flavors, and the pairings were great.

Pardon my late review. We had dinner at the carlton for Valentine's day, deciding to spluge for the day of love. Reading the reviews I was so excited for a nice night out. The hostess was very sweet and nice, talking to us while we waited for a seat. The restaurant had a lovely, romantic atmosphere. The service was verrrry sloow.... More

My brothers and I were told by the hotel shuttle driver that he and his wife highly recommend The Carlton. It was given very good ratings as a steakhouse online. So, I made a reservation on Open Table without a problem. We had high expectations of eating a great steak. For being labeled a steakhouse they sure didn't have steaks... More

Had a very fine lunch this past week to say farewell to some friends. The food was excellent as was the service. I also must praise the waiter for his wine recommedation. I have been to The Carlton on a couple other occasions, but never for lunch. I will make it a point to visit again when I am in... More

Probably one of the best restaurants in the city! One of the older restaurants, this place is fantastic and has staying power! Have been there many times and have tried most things on the menu. Have yet to have anything I haven't liked! Makes it very hard to chose a favorite. Also recently hosted a function there for approx 40... More

and they are getting most all of our dining out money. there is no place in downtown Pittsburgh that I am happier to shell out money to dine. whether lunch or dinner we "dine" here. all too often other places are just eating establishments.
