and they are getting most all of our dining out money. there is no place in downtown Pittsburgh that I am happier to shell out money to dine. whether lunch or dinner we "dine" here. all too often other places are just eating establishments.

You feel like you are in a really good NY club/restaurant. The menu is exciting, the food delicious, and the atmosphere wonderful. A great place to celebrate birthdays, anniversaries, vacations, or just dinner. Go. You will like it.

So many good things to say about The Carlton. Food is consistently great. Service is too. And the atmosphere can be business, romantic or family. Just let them know when you make your reservation. I've been there for all 3 reasons.

Had dinner at the Carlton for the first time Saturday night. Arrived with a group of 8. Waited at the bar for a short time and then we were seated. Waiter refreshed drinks then disappeared for quite awhile. We were with a larger group of friends and in no big hurry. The waiter came back, advised of the specials and... More

We came on a Saturday night. We made a reservation, when we arrived, or table wasn't ready. We went to the bar to wait. The bar is tiny, and not enjoyable. The bartenders are also responsible for pouring drinks for the dining room, which creates a hectic atmosphere with servers barking out drink orders from all directions. It makes it... More

My husband and I enjoy the Carlton before Consol Center events, for special events, and just because. The food is excellent - it is famous for fish. Always great. I also really enjoy the steak The servers know exactly what to do. Professional but comfortable. The Carlton had a wonderful wine list that is very fairly priced and an excellent... More

We recently returned to Pittsburgh after living in several other states and were eager to visit our former favorite, The Carlton. We decided to visit on our anniversary as we had gone there for special events in the past. We were seated at a small table in the corner near several large parties who were nearly finished and obviously on... More

We enjoyed a very pleasant, nicely presented dinner at the Carlton, but felt that the prices were quite high, although the food was delicious. If you don't like crowds, avoid the Carlton if there's a home Penguin game as the bar will be really noisy and, even with a reservation, you'll battle the crowds.

Some recent reviews. Prompted me to write this. First, I ignore any reviewer who trashes a place, and has almost no reviews. Second, I know not where another recent reviewer was, but not the Carlton. I have never encountered any rudeness there. The bar itself is small, with limited seating, but there are lounge booths in the bar area, and... More
