Not your typical Italian restaurant

Located on the edge of Pittsburgh's strip district you would not expect to find an restaurant that tries so hard to be upscale. No criticism intended or implied about the strip district. it's very "mom and pop" old school atmosphere lends to the places like Deluca's. Reading the somewhat mixed... read more

I attended a reception here, and based on the hors d'oeuvres a bunch of us decided to stay afterwards for dinner. Lidia's is famous for their pastas, and justifiably so. Service was excellent. Prices are reasonable given the quality of the food. The location is a bit awkward for now and the next few months; a hotel is being built... More

I liked the interiors as well. You have choice of pastas which I loved!! The brunch had a lot of variety and service was good.

Having dined here several times before when I lived in the Pittsburgh area, (over 6 years ago), I was disappointed in the food. It was very good, but not as exceptional as I recall. The seafood mixture appetizer was dried out and not well seasoned. The Osso Bucco entrée was good but not stellar. Plus there was no marrow inside... More

A recent lunch for three; weekday. Took a while for anyone to serve us water or bread. Don't bother asking the water/bread boy about the menu- he doesn't know. Took even longer for our server to show up. Food is phenomenal. A little on the heavy/greasy side and portions very large. Enough to take home in a doggy bag. The... More

I have visited Lidia's several times over the years, but this is the first review I've written about the restaurant. My overall rating would probably be 3-1/2. The restaurant is nicely decorated, and it has some lovely glass chandeliers. Our waitress was very pleasant and helpful. She went out of her way to ensure we selected dishes that we would... More

A favorite in Pittsburgh. The pasta trio is always unique and worthy of any first time diner. Once you get past ordering the pasta trio after multiple visits, dive into the menu and explore the excellent northern Italian creations. If you like cheese... and who doesn't? Get the FRICO.. It's rich. If you are around on Sunday and want a... More

Complaining about food and drink is not something we tend to do in restaurants, but our meal here was an exception. The first thing we sent back was the diet coke, which was so light in color it looked like there was no syrup ... this color should have been noticed by a good waitress. But we didn't have a... We were there with a large group and had a set menu: Caesar salad, pasta trio, tiramisu, and a glass of wine. The salad was decent- slightly over dressed. For the pasta, I requested the gluten free option, which was ravioli. My companion received the pasta trio which is served table side from large pans. The servers are not very... More
