Casual Caribbean fare

Kaya in is an very un-Caribbean section of town, on a corner in the strip district facing Smallman St, once you get past that, the food was better than I expected. Stopped in after the lunch rush when visiting the Strip District. The wait staff was quiet but helpful. Had the asparagus cemita, a vegetarian sandwich with asparagus, egg, hummus, avocado, pea shoots, and ramp aioli. It was colorful but also very tasty -- the ramp aioli had a strong but complementary garlic flavor. Would go back to try other items... More

This was a great lunch for me and my girlfriend and her daughter. We had the best Mojita I have had since Florida. I had the tropical paella and we had the Jerk chicken wings. They were awesome!!! Service was great and this will be on the list to go to again!!!

Had a delicious meal with a friend. The waiter was excellent and their drink menu has fun and tasty drinks. Most anything on the menu will delight your tastebuds.

If you're an *extremely* picky eater (bland, not mixed, etc.), it may be hard to find something for you on the menu. But I'll try anything once and I loved Kaya. I went while on vacation with my fiance's family (his parents are Pittsburgh natives) and it was truly a great experience. Wonderful atmosphere and decor. The chefs' culinary presentation... More

When visiting the Strip District (a must), there are many places to eat. This is one of them. I can't say that this is the BEST, although it certainly IS good. But there are so many choices. Waitress was great and I liked the Caribbean feel. Good unique food! Although when it got busy it felt a bit crowded as... More

Our waiter,Charlie?, was very good & gave us great, honest recommendations. We had all the best sellers. Loved the laid back feel & the bar would be really nice to sit at also. Very fresh ingredients & nice wines.

I've been here twice with my husband and it was great both times! I tried the paella, which was delicious and was packed with meat and seafood. The wings are great as well- spicy and crispy but not greasy or overly breaded. We went last night when they had their Valentine's Day tasting menu, which was awesome! Four small courses... More

My husband and I had the opportunity to have lunch at Kaya. We had a hard time deciding what to have to eat so we split the Paella and the Salmon Apple Salad. Both were FANTASTIC and a great pairing of taste. The service was fantastic and it was mostly quiet with some great background music but not to loud... More

We went here after a day of exploring the Strip District. Having never had Caribbean cuisine before, we didn't know what to expect, but we were in for a treat! The menu changes frequently, but the crab cake sandwich was one of the best I've had. Highly recommended if you see it on the menu. Loved the sorrel tea and... More
