I grew up on Long Island sound with a dazzling array of fresh caught seafood before pollution took its toll. I have been landlocked with little access to fresh salt water seafood. I called the store to get information on shipping to Central New York. I was surprised to get three personal call from Mr. Robert Wholey not only about... More

Everyone around Pittsburgh raves about Wholey's. It's practically a Pittsburgh institution. However, I hadn't been there until I went with some friends today. I had high expectations and came away not knowing if I would return. The restaurant itself is situated inside a seafood market. It smells like rotting seafood inside. I didn't hold that against the review or the... More

I don't know where they get their mussels but they are also the best. Great happy hour but you have to pay attention because the servers tend to forget to add the happy hour prices. The marinara sauce from the mussels is so delicious that I always ask for a container to take it home and use over a little... More

the fish sandwiches and seafood are delicious. In addition, if you want fresh seafood to bring home to cook yourself, this is the place.

Tons of different seafood great place to browse, eat, shop or ship. The fish sandwich is fresh, huge and crispy. The onion rings weren't great.

Stopped here for lunch and fed two adults and two teens for less than $30, including drinks. Fried clams and enormous fish sandwich (whiting, I think) were delicious. Good fries and lots of them. The crabcake was the only disappointment; it was fine, just not as good as the other items. Order your food downstairs, carry it up to paper-covered... More

The fresh fish market is superb. Their fresh meat and eclectic grocery selection is also fabulous. Their fresh produce is excellent. I love their lobster bisque and lobster mac n cheese. By far the best I've had, so far, including the east coast. Big chunks of lobster meat and plenty of it.

I have been a huge fan of the deep fried fish sandwich here since I was a teenager. You just feel like there is always something new to discover at Wholeys every time I go there...a real Pittsburgh treat.

We've been to Wholey's Market many times over 10 years or so without ever having lived closer than 100 miles away. The Strip District is a Pittsburgh destination in itself, but Wholey's is our favorite not only for the wide selections of fresh meats and fish, but for the stalls located inside or in front of the market where seasonal... Maybe the prices are very good but you get what you pay for. $10 for 2 lobster roll was a great deal. The lobster roll was not the best but it was quite good. Worth eating. The lobster-crap bisque soup was runny and just OK. The lobster mac and cheese was also just OK and did not have much lobster... More
