Avenue B was recommended by my spouse's cousin, while we were visiting them in Pittsburgh PA. We made reservations, but thought we did not require this action, as we were among the very first diners to arrive. Very quickly, however, the place filled up as we were most cordially led to our table. We ordered many different entrees =among them,... More

All I want to say about this place is that it is exceptional! We were staying in Shadyside for a week for a golf tournament and stumbled upon Avenue B. They were full but accommodated us at an earlier time. Staff were really good- friendly and knowledgeable. The food was so delicious- tried the chicken and seabass and my plate... More

This restaurant offers delicious food, good service and good value. They have a $5 corkage fee. Parking is on the street nearby. It is so popular for a weekend reservation it is best to call 3 weeks ahead. It is rather noisy if a large group is near you. It is a small restaurant. We have eaten there several times... More

I was attending a convention and staying at a hotel in Shadyside. One early evening I was strolling through the neighborhood looking for a place to eat and just because Avenue B looked interesting, I walked in. Since it was early on a week night I was seated immediately. My only transient disappointment was that it was BYOB (a real... More

A group of five of use travel to western Pa. eateries for good food and fun. We totally enjoyed our experience at Avenue B. With a regular menu and a chalkboard menu, we had a nice variety of dishes to choose from "beginnings" to desserts. One diner chose a chilled asparagus soup that she really loved. Our entrees included praiseworthy... More

Pittsburgh is developing really great restaurants and this is a gem. A small place so be prepared to wait if you don't have a reservation, but any wait will be worth the time. The food is wonderful and the service is attentive and friendly.

I ate there tonight with my family. We had a $100 gift certificate from a friend who said this was his favorite restaurant, period. The food was unlike anything he had ever eaten. His feelings are shared by many other diners who have reviewed this restaurant. You can only eat here with reservations which are hard to get. Well......maybe I... More

I have been to this restaurant many times and have yet to be disappointed. It is one of the best restaurants Pittsburgh has to offer. Just remember that it's "BYOB." Plan in advance because this tiny restaurant fills up quickly. You won't be disappointed!

For the price of the food, I expected a bit more, but it was just ok. Service was good and atmosphere was kind of blah. I don't think I'll be back.

I've eaten at Ave B several times and each time has been excellent. You must have a reservation. The meatloaf is always a great fallback but the specials are amazing. You can bring your own wine which makes the meal quite affordable. The atmosphere is fun and cozy, the service has always been flawless.
