We took a friend out for his birthday and went to Salt of the Earth and arranged for the 5 course tasting menu. It was very, very good. The courses were as follows: Tuna poke Steak tartare Braised chicken leg in curry broth Duck breast Dessert My descriptions above do not do the dishes justice, as they all came with... More

So this place is a rare gem! It's off the beaten path and not convenient if you are staying in downtown Pittsburgh (which we were). Design is clean and modern with communal style tables. They have vegetarian options, I would list the menu but I think this may be the kind of place where the menu shifts frequently depending on... More

We have eaten at Salt many times and until this past summer, were always very pleased. After last night's meal, it's clear that Salt is back to its former glory. Everyone in our party raved about the food. Although the menu changes every week and therefore you might not get exactly what we had, here is a sampling of their... More

Interesting ingredients for a creative menu and space and excellent service. You can either eat at the kitchen bar if you like watching the chef do his thing, or at communal tables. Great atmosphere!

Took my wife there last evening for her birthday. Very cool atmosphere, food was very good, ordered drinks (moscow mule my favorite) for my wife and I and they tasted like a margarita. Waitress said that they concoct their own ginger and thats the way they always taste....so we exchanged for something else. My only complaint is that the Hanger... More

Had a great meal at this great restaurant. We have now been there 2 times. First, sat upstairs dining. Second visit, we sat at the kitchen bar. Loved this! Fun to see the Chefs prepare the meals and interact with them as well. Food was awesome! They have some very unique items on the menu. Would highly recommend this a... More

A very tasty, if expensive, bite to eat following a performance at the Dance Alloy Studios across the street. The service was very attentive and friendly as well.

This is a wonderful restaurant. Went with friends on Friday 6/6/14, had an excellent meal. Started with cocktails, my wife had the rum version, I had the rye, others had the vodka and mescal. The group shared the salt cod fritters and the grains starters, both were very good. I had the pork main, others had hanger steak, chicken, trout,... More

How great to have such a gem in Pittsburgh. Something different than the usually steak houses. The atmosphere on the mezzanine was great and you could actually hear just your conversation , no one else's. Wine selection excellent ; had a hard time choosing. Great white alberino and superb Pinot noir! We all had different dishes and everyone raved about... More

There are many good restaurants in The Steel City. I have been to NACL for business and pleasure. It is always first rate. Sitting at the bar and overseeing the kitchen or speaking with the bar staff (two bars - have done both and enjoyed both) is the best. The food is very well prepared and seasonal. This is a... More
