How great to have such a gem in Pittsburgh. Something different than the usually steak houses. The atmosphere on the mezzanine was great and you could actually hear just your conversation , no one else's. Wine selection excellent ; had a hard time choosing. Great white alberino and superb Pinot noir! We all had different dishes and everyone raved about... More

There are many good restaurants in The Steel City. I have been to NACL for business and pleasure. It is always first rate. Sitting at the bar and overseeing the kitchen or speaking with the bar staff (two bars - have done both and enjoyed both) is the best. The food is very well prepared and seasonal. This is a... More

Love this place. The food was great, the beer selection was small, but had just enough choices. We sat at the communal tables which turned out to be pretty fun. I will definitely be going back soon.

Service was excellent, atmosphere was very nice. Did not really care for the food too much. While it tasted ok, it was mainly various combinations of ingredients that did not go together well, and I don't think they were intended to. The shrimp appetizer was the best thing I had and it was just ok. Small wine selection, but tasty.

Had to check it out because I've heard several people talk about this place. Ha! While a certain degree of formality is appreciated at restaurants (like Jules Verne in Paris), this joint goes over the top in the snob department. If they spent more time on making delicious food instead of inventing pseudo culinary terms for their food, then they'd... More

For me it doesn't get any better in Pittsburgh than Salt of the Earth. This restaurant would be top tier in any great foodie town. Cocktails, wine, dinner and appetizer choices are all creative and delicious. I've eaten here a dozen times and never been disappointed.

This was my second trip to Salt of the Earth. Similar experience to last time. You look at the individual components of the dish and wonder how they could possibly come together, and then you take a bite and realize the true genius of Chef Kevin Sousa. On this trip, my main dish consisted of pork belly, caramelized onion, and... More

I was actually pretty impressed with the burgh's foodie scene on the whole, but this was my favorite meal there. It's casual, so you have to be down with the communal seating situation to enjoy this place (although there are a few private tables, as well as bar seating), but the food and service are excellent. Creative dishes with lots... More

Had the noodle appetizer, and it was excellent. Had the Ramen, and it was delicious, more filling than it looked. Scallops with Kim-Chee was delicious too. Good atmosphere, and they even have communal or group tables. Thumbs up for NaCl!
