FIne food and decent service

It was late when I found this restaurant and stopped in; they were within 50 minutes of closing so I ordered a steak salad - and it was very good. The steak was freshly cooked and served exactly as I ordered, the balance of streak and greens was perfect and I asked for the dressing on the side. I... read more

My wife and I attended an after matinee and stopped afterwards for dinner. Seated promptly with quick response from the wait staff. Placed our order and were quickly served with drinks, bread and salad. Restaurant was just starting to get busy but we were well attended to. Our meals were quickly served hot. This is one of my favorite restaurants... More

My wife made reservations for a party of 7 for 7:30 pm on a Saturday, we walked in at 7:25 and sat right down the place was packed and people waiting to be seated. The service was absolutely perfect couldn't ask for anything better. And the food it speaks for itself , a little pricey but well worth it. It's... More

This is where the wife and I go for special occasions and for good reason, it's always delicious. The bread dipping sauce is PHENOMENAL! No, seriously... Save room for lots of Breadworks Mini Ciabatta bread and a tomato, parmesan, and oil dipping sauce that is addictive to say the least. The fried calamari is always good. My favorite is by... More

Every time we visit Pittsburgh this restaurant is a must. The prices are very reasonable and the food is the freshest ever. The Zucchini appetizer with their homemade marinara and a little sprinkle of lemon. My mouth is watering. Service is great and you will find the owner Tommy roaming around making sure each of his guest meals are perfect!

I have eaten dinner here several times and I have never had a bad dish. Pasta dishes are $15, and the meat entrées range from $20-$30. Entrees come with two nice side (Soup, Salad…) The daily specials are usually very good and change frequently. I can also recommend the bread pudding for dessert and the calamari appetizer. They have a... More

The bar is hopping and.if you have a dinner reser they seat you on time. Our server Jason was excellent and very attentive And helpful in making our selections. The petit size small plates are just right for the female palette and the main course dinner entrees are a lot of food! Highly recommend the chicken saltimbocca which was excellent!... More

Went for lunch with my husband. Love that we could sit outside on a nice summer day. We both ordered the soup and salad special - with the apple gorgonzola salad and greens and beans soup. Both are super yummy. The bread that they serve is also really good. We'll be back for sure.

Cafe Monaco (Hoffstot's) is a flashback to traditional Pittsburgh restaurant's that provided "Comfort Food" and a few daily specials to add more upscale food options. It is like stepping into a "time warp" (in a good way!) to earlier values in good food and beverages at reasonable prices in a friendly and comfortable (but nor ostentatious) atmosphere. The good news:... More

We waited 40 minutes for opening beverages. Then during the meal water glass was not refilled. We asked for a new water glass for a person and it took 20 minutes. The side dish ordered was not brought; a different one was. When told waitress she said the dish was not available and she just picked one for us. Then... More
