Possibly the best sushi I've had

We just moved into the area, and our real estate agent told us to check this place out. We got take out, and it was amazing to say the least. We went on New Year's Day which maybe wasn't the best time to go. The staff was bored and inattentive, almost rude. The food was mediocre at best. The décor is tired and a bit dirty. We won't be going back.

My husband and I have tried many sushi restaurants, but this is our absolute favorite, despite it being almost an hour from our home. We eat here every chance we get. The fact that it is BYO makes it fun (and more affordable for us), so that we can focus on the many, many outstanding and creative rolls. They have... More

An American in Japan. Ota-Ya is a pleasant and interesting restaurant located off the Main Street in Newtown (Use a GPS program to find it). The food is delicious and the staff couldn't be more pleasant. The ambiance is comfortable and you can come as casually as you'd like. It's somewhat like a neighborhood place since so many regulars eat... More

Excellent quality. Always fresh sushi fish. Far supetior in quality to any other place in Bucks County and beyond --- we have tried many, many places. Owner and staff are very friendly and helpful...always remember regulars names and what they usually order. Service is great too.

This place would go crazy if it was in a more prominent place and not hidden in a dark strip center. That enabled us to get seated right away at 8pm on a Saturday night. Ordered the dinner box, excellent presentation and very tasty. Wife had sushi and ate every last grain of rice. Prices are reasonable, service friendly and... More

Otay ya, Newtown (haven't been to the one in Lambertville) has become our Friday night regular go to place. Reason, reasonable prices, BYOB and excellent consistent food and service. Carmen is our regular waitress and has an incredible memory knowing (after our first visit) what we liked. The crab rangoon and the sauce it comes with (on the plate) is... More

Ota-ya competes VERY well with two other Japanese restaurants in Newtown. Food is good and prices are reasonable. Service was very prompt on a very busy Saturday night although we did have to wait even though we had a reservation.

One of the best BYOB places for sushi, if not the best, that we've ever been to. My hubby and i are regulars at this small, casual place tucked in the middle of a small strip mall. The board specials are inspired, not at all atypical of sushi. The rolls are easily thin layers of fish on fish on fish,... More

This is a 'must go to' restaurant whenever I am in Newtown. Not smart but great food and great value. Much cheaper than the other sushi venue in town and in my opinion much nicer sushi.
