Revisited with friends after an absence of 2 years. Lovely setting and ambiance but what a disappointment. We had to run through a LONG list of drinks before we happened upon ones they had in stock, the bartender was actually embarrassed . Limited beer options, no sparkling wine, no New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc, triple sec ran out so they had... More

Newtown decided to do a fall restaurant week as the one in spring was a huge success. We can see why! The food was delicious, presentation was beautiful, atmosphere quaint historic Newtown, and the service was terrific. Since it was a prix fixe menu for Restaurant Week, you had several choices, although limited from the full menu. The portions were... More

The food was good and the service was friendly, but the serving sizes for the price was not. They do have a nice piano bar in the front room where you can have drinks and listen to the music.

I went there with a visiting friend from New Orleans. The food was fantastic. We ate upstairs in the piano bar so I will say that I really didn't expect the food to be this great! This was a Friday night and it so happens that Liz DuFour was entertaining this night. What a great night. She is an excellent... More

I had their signature burger, it was great. French Fried were from fresh potatoes, still have skin on them.

We just celebrated our 21st anniversary at the Black Horse. Food was great, I will give them that. I had the Fisherman's Trio. Perfectly cooked salmon, cod and scallop in a white wine sauce. My husband had the salmon, which he said was very good. What was not so good? Amateur servers, NO Wine List, only generic wine by the... More

Definitely a major disappointment! We went for dinner and it was a very long time after we were seated that someone finally approached our table. Our server took our order and then we never, ever saw her again....honestly! Someone else brought out our entrees and no one ever came over to ask how everything was. It was extremely disorganized and... More

We arrived to Black Horse Tavern Friday evening to a duo of overwhelmed "bartenders." (To even classify them as such is a crime.) You would expect the "bartenders" to be overwhelmed if the bar was flourishing like you would expect one to do on a Friday night. After the soon to be told experience we had, I now see why... More

Very cold and snowy Sat. night, decided we felt housebound, yet wanted to try somewhere near we had not been to. This was a good choice. Surprisingly busy as we had seen very few cars driving, but no parking on State. Went around the block and got a side street spot right by the restaurant. Decided to sit in the... More

This used to be a place I'd bring my family but as the ownership changed, it's now appalling! The food is horrible, the women bartenders look like hookers, they're always drunk on the job, my husband caught a girl bartender doing something illegal in the bathroom, the blonde bartender sleeps with the married men .... Should I say more?!?!? Hope... More
