Good Repeat Visit to Black Horse Tavern

To my knowledge the antiques mecca that is the Adamstown, PA area is gastronomically challenged. Central location where I could walk from home, but the bar is way sub par. I haven't even tried the restaurant because of the too many complaints I've heard from family and friends. Wish they could become a good alternative in town.

I've been here three times now. They are consistently out of a third of the menu. This last and final time we waited an hour and twenty minutes for one filet mignon and it came out rare instead of medium. (Not sure how this possible when it took so long to prepare.) Between the BAD music & the mediocre food,... More

The game was on and the bar tender was very attentive; nice place to grab a bite and chat. Had a lobster bisque for a snack and it was good. I will be going back for a lunch or dinner this week.

We have been to Black Horse Tavern a few times for lunch and dinner. Neat old building. The atmosphere is nice, good food including some creative menu items (except salads are so-so) and good drink options. Our early experiences were good, and inspired us to go back for lunch on a weekend, bringing company. Unfortunately for some reason they were... More

This place is amazing! It is set in an old stone house on the corner of State St. in quaint Newtown PA. The food was awesome, service was amazing!!! Sydney and Mike were the best bartenders I have had in a long time!!!!!

Met my husband for drinks at this cute corner bar in newtown,pa. It just happened to be trivia happy hour with correct answers resulting in free cocktails! The crowd was 35 and older so it was nice. The bar area was small but friendly. The drinks were good and the bar snacks were tasty. I enjoyed the truffle frites. It... More

Solid meal. Came out fairly quickly and had a good overall atmosphere. There didn't seem there was much room for seating so I am unsure how they would handle a big rush. That being said, the restaurant was not very crowded and we went on Valentine's Day.

The Black Horse use to be the place to go but not anymore. There is a new chef so the food is okay but the cocktails are cheap and they use cheap alcohol even when you order premium. Go somewhere else.

I asked the bartender specifically for a "captain and ginger" I proceeded to watch the bartender fill the drink with calico jack (a lower grade much, much cheaper liquor) she then gave me the drink and I drank it thinking they were out of the captain morgan. Then the bill showed that the bartender had in fact charged for the... More
