They have been out of business since Oct 2013. They are OUT OF BUSINESS. They are out of business. I am typing this only because I can't post unless I have a 100 character minimum. They are out of business.

Palate never really hit the lofty target it set for itself -- one thing would be excellent, another woefully off the mark, and not just the food. Withal, that plus a tough economy have finally forced it to shutter. Fans have only one more week to nosh at Palate before the signs come down.

I had my daughter's baby shower at The Palate on a Saturday, late morning/early afternoon Brunch. It was wonderful! Justin the owner, allowed us to rent out the place for our 30 guests and everyone loved it, most of all my daughter, who had never been there before (it was a surprise). The food was delicious (2 egg dishes -... More

The food was decent and a bit over prices. Service was lacking, we kept having to ask for things that should have been automatic. Would not go back. There are many other places in Newtown worth another visit.

We've been looking forward visiting this place from the time it first opened. From the outside, it looked unpretencious but inviting. The menu sounded very creative, on the gourmet side, with a hint of local sustainability effort. So, we finally made a reservation and patiently waited for the first available spot opened at 8PM for dinner. When we got in,... More

A limited variety of food from main courses to burgers. The burger was outstanding ,definitely one of the best I had in the area, I would return just for this. The crab cake sandwich was just as good. Be aware, this is a BYOB.

Haven't been here for a year, decided to come back on our anniversary. Service was very poor. It's a byob waited 15 min. after waiter said he'd be back right away. When he returned, he asked for our order & we said a wine opener! Said there was only 1 opener, he'll try to find it. Food was minimal. The... More

3 friends & I dined for a B’day gathering at this BYOB. Disappointing! At 6:00p.m. they were already out of 2 entrees & it wasn’t crowded & just opened at 5:00p.m. The Duck confit/local cheese plate appetizer was more or less thrown together & presentation was lacking. Entrees were mediocre. Everything we asked our waitress for was never given to... More

While our server was a little pretentious, though nice, the food was the real star. They use meats and produce from local farms as much as they can, which I love. The lunch menu was a little pricy too - the lunch sandwiches cost more than the entrees. Love to find a local small business that I enjoy.
