cute place, ok food

stopped here for a quick lunch while driving to Western PA. Cute place with a little gift shop, counter seating and 2 dining rooms with tables and booths. Chef's specials plus regular menu. I ordered a mushroom burger and iced tea. Tea was unsweetened and nice. Burger was fresh made and mushrooms... read more

Stopped in on a whim for a late lunch. The staff is super friendly, food is good. I had the breaded haddock sandwich that was served open-faced because the piece of fish is huge with a cream of corn soup. The fish was tasty and cooked to perfection; the corn soup, sweet but not over-poweringly sweet. Some of the pies... More

A nice, friendly local place with just enough Pennsylvania Dutch offerings to justify their use of a decorative windmill that looked like one you might have seen on an old mini-golf course, only bigger! Come hungry. The chicken pot pie (without crust, as they warn you) is huge and more like what I think of as a chicken stew, with... More

We were glad the Windmill was still open as we drive by Memorial Day evening. So many other places were closed. The country ham was delicious with homemade mashed potatoes and gravy. The chicken pot pie was also very tasty.

Place is pretty laid back country type feeling. Came in for breakfast and majority of people are really old people and sounds like all locals. Had a doctors appointment and service seemed really slow. So if you have any plans, make sure you're not on a tight schedule. Food is pretty decent and the pricing is great.

Went with several friends and had maybe the best Pa. Dutch food ever. Chicken and corn soup fantastic, roast turkey with filling, mashed potatoes and gravy... great. Homemade like I remember at grandma's house. I read some reviews that were down on their empanadas or spaghetti, here is some advise, when in Rome do as the Roman's do. In Amish... More

Tried it once and it was the last time! Not sure how a restaurant can mess up an egg omelet or pancakes but this place can!

Sometimes on our way to Lancaster, we stop here to eat. It's an older restaurant. It's not real fancy inside, could use an update. Usually the staff is friendly, depends who you get. The food is usually good. So far we have not had anything bad. The prices are reasonable. Small gift shop. It's an ok place.

Less than was expected. Should have turned around at the foyer due to the awful smell of old fried foods or mold. The young host walked past us to the cash register without a greeting. He finally seated us. It was not busy since it was in the afternoon. Several workers were seated at the counter and he had been... More

It was a quick stop and conveniently located on the route we were traveling. I have fond memories of previous dining experiences here, but perhaps the memory is more of the person who I met with. I ordered chicken corn soup. UGH! It tasted sour and the chicken felt like rubber. It was returned and replaced with chili. The chili... More
