After hearing rave reviews from several different sources we decided that we needed to check out. Udipi. We randomly decided one night to check it out. As we pulled up, the parking lot was packed! Most of the tables inside were filled as well. Obviously lots of people really enjoy this restaurant. We sat down and ordered some drinks and... More

Located near the famous Sree Venkateswara temple, this has the blessing of the God and fills the aroma and taste of pure south Indian. I tasted the following delicacies and enjoyed ..cripy Methu vada with chutney and Sambar, Tomato soup. MASALA DOSAI, POORI, Vegetable curry. Staffs were very helpful and food reached very fast. I will highly recommend.

If you love flavorful, healthy food, this is the place for you. It is also completely vegetarian, but don't let that stop you if you like meat; the food is so tasty, you'll never miss it. And if you already like Indian food, you will be so pleased to find this hidden treasure.

I love this place. EVERY time I'm in the area, I make a point to eat there. Love the food. I now take a cooler with me, and order extras to bring home for the freezer. Good food, excellent prices.

If you want quality vegetarian food, Udipi is the place. True, it looks like a dump - a hole in the wall. However, it's clean, the poeple are nice, and they make the best poori. The specialize in dosas. It's true home-cooked food. It's not fancy, it's just good food.

This place is truly the best experience of South Indian cuisine you can have, without burning a hole in your pocket. This place is very conveniently priced (not conveniently located though :( ). The food is amazing and really authentic tasting. Also, it is near the temple! Must visit for everyone!

If you're looking for ambiance-this is not the place to be. However, if you are looking for great food, this is it. I have eaten at Udipi Café two to three times per year for the past 5 years, when in the area visiting friends. I bring a cooler with me, and order tons of extra food to bring home... More

Udipi serves good authentic south Indian food with horrible service. I wonder how the cafe is running despite of such bad service - serving people are not friendly and arrogant. Its the good food that is saving this place.

I live in Pittsburgh and am in Monroeville fairly often. I can't resist stopping for the Matar Paneer (green peas & cheese) and the Batura (large puffy poori bread). And they do take-out. I'm hooked.

We were visiting from Cincinnati, and stopped here for dinner before going to the temple. The food was delicious, we had dahi vada, paneer dosa, andhra spicy masala dosa and yogurt rice. We ordered carrot halwa and it was kind of savory but they gladly gave us a different dessert. Will stop by the next te we visit.
