Vegetarian food that satisfies any carnivore!

Best Indian food in Pittsburgh, hands down. The only complaint I have is there are not good descriptions in the vast menu, and unfortunately, the staff never seems to give the information you want to know. I have been there dozens of times and will definitely go back, it is easily the best Indian... read more

it is tucked away, it is humble, it is quiet but staff is helpful and the food is good! Sometimes after a long day all you are looking for is some comfort food or Indian version of breakfast all day this is a good place.

We stopped for lunch, I with a friend who has been here many times. She steered me on a perfect course with rava masala dosai.....so good! Pleasant, simple atmosphere, nice lunch crowd and pleasant service. I will return!

This place offers an authentically Indian experience. Most people who are used to some form of meat in their meal will be surprised by how much of delicious choice a vegetarian menu can offer. The best part is that you can try a variety of things for under $20. Their lunch express menu makes an already 'value-for-money' menu even more... More

I agree with most reviewers, this place looks pretty unobtrusive and doubtful from outside, but boy, the food is amazing! There are always lineups and people patiently waiting outside in droves, but its worth the wait. Their location is a winner because it is at the foot of the Balaji Temple, where hindu devotees come from all over N.America. Yes,... More

Walking into Udipi Cafe immediately transports you to Kashmir. We pulled off of the PA Turnpike seeking adventure and food that wasn't wrapped in paper or came in the box. To our surprise Monroeville has such wonderful India selections that the question becomes, what region in India. We chose Udipi because the reviews were passionate about this place. The passion... Southern Indian vegetarian to perfection. The best tastes and flavors I've ever had. Numerous dosai to choose from, each of them sublime - although the mysore masala dosai is a favorite. We have never had a bad dish but bangai bartha is to dream of. The rices, particularly the tamarind, is so flavorful. I was reviewing the on-line menu to... More

Despite its jaded decor , below par cleanliness people go here as the food was decent and this was a good vegetarian restaraunt in Pittsburgh area. Of late this place is going down hill with bad quality of food . Can you imagine a black chappathi in thali? The price of food item is not commensurate with the quality of... More

I went to Idina several times. Each time the place looks unkempt, and the service is lacking. If you are looking for good Indian food, in an eastern "greasy spoon", this is for you. If you want to eat in a different atmosphere with a date, try another restaurant
