During renovations, workers found in the floor beams a signed inspection stamp--November 5, 1890--with the name of tobacco inspector John J. Jeffries. We named the restaurant after him. We’ve designed our menu based on local, seasonal, sustainable and organic agriculture and delicious recipes. Please join us and taste the difference of local farm-to-table sustainable cuisine in one of Lancaster's best fine dining restaurants. As the Chefs and Owners of John J Jeffries, we believe you will find our passion for supporting local businesses and preserving the land we live on, to be contagiously obvious in how we run our restaurant. All of our meats are raised locally, confinement-free on fresh green grass pastures. No hormones, antibiotics, steroids or forced-fertilization occurs. Our produce is local organic or chemical free. We use local grass fed cream, butter and eggs. We also provide sustainable seafood and support sustainable fisheries.

Eat here

Fresh, great food. Awesome service. Great cocktails. Love it here. The menu changes all the time and I've never had something I don't like. I look forward to eating here every time I am in Lancaster.

From the call for a specific reservation ...... until in the parking garage leaving, everything was superb. Hot or Cold Small Plates are tremendous to share, equally so were the Large Plates as entrees. No room for dessert, this time .........

Upscale restaurant with very good but pricey food. Would have liked option of a "sandwich" menu in addition to the sophisticated appetizer small plates and high priced entrees. Service was good. Busy Wednesday evening!

My son and I had dinner here to celebrate a personal achievement. The reservation was for the earliest possible seating time for dinner and on a day when there had been snow & ice so the restaurant was very quiet. The decor is modern and elegant. Although there does not seem to be a dress requirement it felt like the... More

We visited this restaurant 2/27/2015 for my birthday dinner. The atmosphere was really nice. They sat us at a dark table but were quick to bring more light for us to see the menu. We had the lobster bisque and pork belly as apps and cornmeal coated fried chicken for dinner and parsnip carrot cake for dessert. Everything was delicious.... More

Excellent service from Frank, their beef tartar was one of the best things I've ever eaten. Great draft menu and the best Moscow mule I've ever had. Great atmosphere inside the Lancaster arts hotel. Will absolutely go back because of the atmosphere, food and service!! Upscale without being pretentious.

Dined here on a Friday evening. Had a cocktail at the stylish chic bar while we waited for our table. The lighting is lovely and atmosphere inviting. I wish we just sat at the bar and ate, always next visit. Now onto the good eats...Hubby started off with the lobster bisque and his big plate was the steak with chimmichura... More

The food was mediocre and we grew quickly tired of being told where the food was grown and by whom. As long as it is local, I really don't care where Frank grew the greens I was served - no matter how cutesy they make his farm sound! However I do care that the recipe the chef used was not... More
