During renovations, workers found in the floor beams a signed inspection stamp--November 5, 1890--with the name of tobacco inspector John J. Jeffries. We named the restaurant after him. We’ve designed our menu based on local, seasonal, sustainable and organic agriculture and delicious recipes. Please join us and taste the difference of local farm-to-table sustainable cuisine in one of Lancaster's best fine dining restaurants. As the Chefs and Owners of John J Jeffries, we believe you will find our passion for supporting local businesses and preserving the land we live on, to be contagiously obvious in how we run our restaurant. All of our meats are raised locally, confinement-free on fresh green grass pastures. No hormones, antibiotics, steroids or forced-fertilization occurs. Our produce is local organic or chemical free. We use local grass fed cream, butter and eggs. We also provide sustainable seafood and support sustainable fisheries.

While on a trip we took a break one evening for dinner. The men behind the bar are very talented and make a mean Manhattan with a burnt orange peel that lingers pleasantly on the taste buds. The fare is a spin on the Dutchie classics but kicked up about 5 or so notches. We recommend the shrimp and grits

We don't eat red meat, so the menu looked challenging -- even the fish dishes incorporated bacon or chorizo. Our server, Sergio, assured us, however, that accommodations could be made. Moreover, the one vegetarian dish on the menu -- Johnny Cakes -- looked promising. We began with two soups, a cold roasted beet with mint, and a soup duo of... More

We were in town to visit F &M. Nice local farm to table, gourmet meals. I had lamb shank, my husband had beef shank and my daughter had veggie Johnny cakes. We Also had fried green tomatoes with cheese, yum. A great find.

We were looking for dinner close by the BnB we were staying at and John J. Jeffries showed up on a restaurant list. The name sounded like a down-home country restaurant and we were cool with that. We showed up in our everyday clothes and were a little shocked to find out it was a fine dining experience. They didn't... More

Excellent food and friendly, attentive service. All produce and meat is locally sourced and free of chemicals and hormones. The menu is small but offers a great variety. Since everything is fresh and seasonal, they do seem to run out of things quickly, but we had not problem finding multiple things on the menu to order. Sergio's service was excellent!

We have been to Lancaster 4-5 times now and although it's a charming town it did not seem to have any fine dining options. JJJ is good enough for us city folk and we enjoyed our meal there even though we only had 50 minutes to do so, due to my error in reading the start time of our show... More
