Description: During renovations, workers found in the floor beams a signed inspection stamp--November 5, 1890--with the name of tobacco inspector John J. Jeffries. We named the restaurant after him. We’ve designed our menu based on local, seasonal, sustainable and organic agriculture and delicious recipes. Please join us and taste the difference of local farm-to-table sustainable cuisine in one of Lancaster's best fine dining restaurants. As the Chefs and Owners of John J Jeffries, we believe you will find our passion for supporting local businesses and preserving the land we live on, to be contagiously obvious in how we run our restaurant. All of our meats are raised locally, confinement-free on fresh green grass pastures. No hormones, antibiotics, steroids or forced-fertilization occurs. Our produce is local organic or chemical free. We use local grass fed cream, butter and eggs. We also provide sustainable seafood and support sustainable fisheries.

John J Jeffries is one of our favorites. The seasonal menu doesn't change quite as often as we might like, but everything is executed perfectly and the cocktails are a real experience. Even ordering hot tea is a fun experience as you choose from a large selection of loose teas to brew in a French press as a whole pot.... More

This was the first time in this restaurant, I will be back if I come to Lancaster again!! Being in Lancaster, there are several farm to table restaurant options to choose from. My wife and I chose this even before we knew it was part of the Lancaster Arts Hotel where we stayed for our anniversary. Menu items creative and... More

We've been here many times and most of the menu items we've tried are quite good. We've had some excellent meals here. Sometimes, though, there were misses and last night was one of the biggest. The server told us there was a Greek salad that was not on the menu so we both started with that. Instead of Romaine, it... More

The food, amazing, and the service (thanks Olivia) were a wonderful treat after 2 days of visiting and exploring Lancaster (and, of course, shopping). In the industry myself, I am always on the hunt for the rare "find", the soul of the food in a chef's creation - it is here. And the service - best ever! Our server suggested... More

John J. Jeffries is a unique dining experience with unusual dishes made from local ingredients. It is in a beautiful boutique hotel with a rustic bar and dining room. You can share small plates or order a main entree. We shared delicious meatballs, Jim Bim Bop ( a spicy pork, black rice and kimchee dish), and a savory potato gratin.... More

Very classy, great for smallish wedding reception. This place stands out for the food and avant garde presentation. Really enjoyed everything and remember it as a standout!

Our dinner was very nice. Creative good but it was very loud. Bar is in the center and there is an open floor plan with curtains separating the dining rooms; this is okay but the acoustics could be improved and the wedding party at the bar was very loud. We had nice classic style cocktails, a chef sample of delicious... More

we enjoyed our meal here with a drink first in the hotel bar and then moving into the lovely restaurant. Staff knew which wine I had drunk in the bar, impressive. Bison was on special and that was delicious, if a rather salty. My husbands food was also too salty for his taste, so we fed that back to the... More

My wife and I recently dined at John J Jeffries for the first time. The table we were seated at was a bit dark, but the host staff offered menu lights. We were offered fresh baked foccacia bread and an amuse bouche of Cream of Celery bisque, which was delicious. Our server, Joe, introduced himself poured us each glasses of... More
