This restaurant was recommended to us and even though it was 30 minutes away we were very glad we went. Being on vacation, we lost track of what day it was and ended up going on a Friday night without reservations. We were told that we would have to wait, probably about 20 minutes, we understood and we were invited... More

What a great surprise to find a place with food of such high quality here in Lancaster. The scallops, salads and eggplant rigatoni were all home runs in terms of flavor and presentation. I have heard that the service is uneven at times, and our dinner service was operating at light speed. We must have seen 6 different people visit... More

Used to stop at Checkers here on our way to the Lancaster Outlets and found the restaurant closed. We had a reservation and called only to find out they moved to another location up the street, all good!!! The problem is the old location was nice & quaint while to the new is stuffy and fake. Service is now snotty... More

We had a Corporate dinner at Checkers Bistro last week and it was a wonderful experience. The Service was impeccable. The food was great, however, I was expecting a few more items to chose from on the menu. Location is perfect for guests staying at the Lancaster Arts Hotel - just a short walk across the parking lot. The guests... More

Chef Daniel Quishpe was my first neighbor in Lancaster. On the sidewalk one day he told me to check out Checkers Bistro. “We’re doing something a little different,” he said. I did check it out, and Checkers was different. The restaurant seemed to be run through the ground floors of several former townhouses. Each dining space was appointed in a... More

My husband and I arrived at 7:30 with a dinner reservation on a Friday. The bistro was bustling with activity, most tables filled when we arrived, most still when we left two hours later. We were immediately shown to a table, and given menus and water. In no time we had orders in, though we never felt any pressure to... More

We have been going to Checkers since it was at its previous location on James Street. Terrific food and not a budget buster. We are fans of the Duck Tacos & Coffee Crusted Filet. Relaxed dining experience!

We loved Checkers as a breakaway small fine dining establishment, but now that they've taken over Rosa Rosa's old building, I thought perhaps the menu would change. What they serve is typically very good to excellent, depending on your server. I went a few weeks ago, and ordered a clear chocolate marting, which I've gotten there many many many times...... More

We go to Checkers for special meals, and it never fails us. Now that they've moved into their new location, I love it even more. I was worried that when they moved into the old Rosa Rosa location, that they'd lose some of the cozy ambience that they are known for. Not so! It is even better, in my opinion.... More

Every element of our experience was excellent. The service was wonderful. Our server was friendly, helpful, and very accommodating. She even brought out a pillow for our 3 year old who fell asleep on the bench during dinner! The food was impeccable! Every dish was freshly made to order and so tasty. You could tell the ingredients were fresh. Each... More
