Wow! The staff and food couldn't have been better. So friendly! As suggested by our server I had the chef's fish special and it was incredible. Possibly one of the best meals I've had in a long time. Husband had the coffee filet Mignon and it was absolutely delicious as well. And just a few steps from our hotel. Such... More

This was my first visit to Checkers Bistro after friends repeatedly asked me my opinion on the place. I sat at the bar and was pretty much ignored--maybe because I wasn't wearing a tie or sport coat--but once I did get noticed my server was one of the nicest bartenders I've ever encountered. Seriously, she earned most of this high... More

At a local's recommendation we showed up on time for a 7:45 pm reservation, waited briefly and stayed until closing, almost. The food was excellent. The service perfect. The selection of wines, beers and cocktails wide. Although full and busy, we could actually have a conversation. The setting in a strip mall is unexceptional, but outward appearances are misleading. I... More

Wow. My wife and I ate at the bar. I had the petite fillet with potato gratin and asparagus. My wife had the scallops with truffle cream leaks and a side of butternut squash risotto cake. Portions are small and a bit pricey but the food was outstanding and well worth the price. We will return often.

I have been reluctant to write a less than favorable review on a family owned establishment. I am submitting this in the spirit of constructive feedback. It had been many years since visiting Checkers at the former location on Mulberry Street. The new location has gone upscale and has a dark gray motif. Even the tables and placemats (no table... More

On the recommendation of a coworker, we dined here for a special occasion. I was able to make reservations through OpenTable and did request special table or accomodation for a birthday. Nothing special was done for the birthday and I cant say the table was special - we were tucked in the back with high booths so it was a... More

Had lunch on 9/24. I had the duck tacos as an appetizer and the margherita pizza. My fried had the cauliflower/corn soup special and the apple salad. The duck taco was very tasty with a surprising taste of five spice. The duck meat was a little too finely shredded/processed for my taste. The pizza was tasty but the crust was... More

Had a great meal at Checkers as we celebrated our Wedding Anniversary. The presentation, quality of the food and waitstaff were superb. What more could we ask for?

If you’re looking for a fine dining restaurant in Lancaster, look no further than Checkers Bistro. Recently, I had the pleasure of not only eating at Checkers for dinner, but also getting a tour of the new location on Harrisburg Avenue. I was impressed with the recent changes made to this Lancaster City staple. See my blog post: http://padutchcountryblog.com/check-high-class-restaurant/

This is a double review. I never got to posting a review of my first visit. So here goes--on my first visit we shared a calamari small plate which was perfectly cooked and a beet and goat cheese salad. The beets were roasted and very sweet they were sprinkled with a fresh goat cheese and hazelnuts on top was a... More
