The best mushroom soup and more

Lots of kids, friendly atmosphere for this type of restaurant. Actually, a lot less expensive than I expected. Less than $40 for 3 people including 3 large mushroom soup, nice size sandwiches, beverages, large salad. We all enjoyed our meals, the location (close to the conservatory) and the price... read more

I personally think that this restaurant is overpriced because there is no where close to go and eat; therefore, they have the customer trapped. The gardens are extensive, and to tour the whole area, you really need to eat at the restaurant. That is no excuse for not having any child-friendly food. You need to bring food if you bring... The food here is A+, as is everything at Longwood Gardens. Basically you can get much of the same food served in 1906, the fine-dining restaurant at Longwood Gardens, but at a lower price. In the warm weather it's nice to sit outside and watch the world go by, but the indoor space is quite comfortable at any time. If... More

Disappointing. Situated on the grounds at Longwood Gardens, next to DuPont's Conservatory, swimming in the extravagance of the early 1%, the Terrace looks the part until you pass the Hostess station. The service staff were dressed well, looked professional, but delivered like a good diner not even close to expectations at this price point. The restaurant opened in 1983 and... More

It is because they use a variety of mushrooms, including wild ones, that their soup is great. A bit overpriced but worth it as they use fresh ingredients and some imagination. I enjoy it most seating outside when the weather is good.

There were 8 of us including my 5 grandchildren all 8 and under. After having a wonderful time roaming around the grounds and conservatory we stopped to get something to eat.I will say the prices are a little high especially with 5 kids and the cost to get in. After ordering pizzas and a few other items we settled in... More

Dear Callie47; I am sorry we did not meet your expectations on your visit. Your title in the review says is all; "trouble in the kitchen'. It was quite a busy day, and we had challenges keeping up. Lots of options are available from sandwich's to pizza to hot foods and salads. Good variety of deserts too. Large seating area indoors - great outdoor seating too if the weather is nice... Close to the observatory it is a good break after walking the gardens before heading inside. Always a good stop during our trips to Longwood..

Food is good, but not great. Remember, its still a cafeteria. The options are pretty good. They try to add some flair and use local ingredients. Is it overpriced? Yes. Meal deal of half a sandwich, salad/soup, fruit and drink for $12 is pretty good, but $1.50 for a bag of Herr's chips is way too much. You can get... More

We enjoyed selecting from a vast menu of options, and of course you must try the mushroom soup since the area is known as the mushroom capital of the world! Nice paninis and sandwiches and salads. We didn't sample the hot food entrees or the large number of dessert options. One of the dining rooms has a fireplace and the... More
