Great little find

We had two amazing lunch experiences at Portabellos. The first day in town we tried it for lunch and had the best mushroom soup I have ever had. The food was good and the service very attentive. The next day we returned with our two other sisters so they could try the mushroom soup as well. We all... read more

After spending the day walking around Longwood Gardens, my husband and I found ourselves in front of Portabello's. It didn't seem busy so we tried our luck. There were 2 empty tables outside on the sidewalk and only 5 or so tables occupied inside. The hostess asked if we had a reservation and we told her we didn't. At this... More

We weaved our way through the Cinqo de Mayo crowds to Portabello's. We went with a couple of friends who told us so many good things about this place. The hostess graciously helped our friends, one who was in a wheelchair, and my companion, who had a walker, into the restaurant and provided us with plenty of room to park... More

We started off with a Portabello covered with lump crabmeat. Perfect! My wife chose the Panko crusted flounder. My choice was the Softshell Crab special. Having been born and raised near the Chesapeake Bay, we both can say that the chef got it right. Our hostess was very pleasant and our server, Alex, was very attentive. Be sure to make... More

Portabello's is a small restaurant located in Kennett Square, the heart of mushroom country. (Who knew!?) We expected Italian food from the name, but the menu was gorgeously cosmopolitan. Usually I am very suspicious of restaurants that claim to do many cuisines well, but Portabello's really does. My husband chose mushroom crepes followed by salmon--both wonderful, with subtle flavors and... More

We and another couple recently enjoyed an evening meal at Portabello's of Kennett Square. We did not have reservations but should have, even on a Tuesday night. Fortunately were able to be seated without much of a wait. My husband and I had the reishi mushroom soup, which was delicious. His entree was the veal Madeira with pasta and mushrooms... More

My wife and I love Longwood Gardens and visit there twice a year. Since it is a three hour drive we make a weekend of it. We are always on the lookout for a new place to try out for dinner on Friday night. We also love BYOB places because we like our own wine. Through TripAdvisor I found Portabello’s... More

Went this time for pre mother's day luncheon .. great selection of choices. Fish tacos were fresh and tasty. Very friendly staff that did not rush you through your meal.

Another fabulous meal at Portabello's. While there are a good number of excellent restaurants in the Kennett Saquare/Chadds Ford area, this is my personal favorite. The chef prepared a "tasting" selection of appetizers and salads for us (each wonderful -- and one was an appetizer portion of the ginger shrimp entree), This was followed by our entree selections of crispy... We were recommended here by the Fairville Inn. This was truly a gourmet meal...probably way up there as one of our best restaurant experiences. The owners are hands on, the husband the chef and the wife, greeting and on top of everything. We shared Portabellos sticks and stuffed Portabellos . Then for entrees we shared roasted duck and amazing crab cakes!... More
