The food was great, the oysters were lovely, the seafood platter for two was fantastic. I especially loved the flavors of the Catalan style seafood. The service was exceptional, complimentary canapes, water and wine topped up frequently, prompt delivery of meals and clean up. It wasn't very busy so hopefully the service is just as excellent when they're under the... More

We went for my mother in law's birthday for lunch. We were offered either the lunch menu (great value, 3 courses for $59 and a glass of wine), or the a la carte and the staff were very nice to allow us to order off both, even though it must have been a hassle for them. The food came so... More

I have had dinner at the Cowrie many times over many years for work dinners out with large group numbers and have never been disappointed with the services, servings and choice. View at night over Terrigal and the beach varies depending on the weather- at night can see the lights. Recently (July) had dinner with large group of over 30... More

We celebrated my 70th birthday there recently. There were 8 adults & 2 children, and we were made very welcome by the friendly staff. Every time we have eaten there, the food has been of excellent quality, well prepared and presented with efficient service even at busy times. However the lunchtime special of 2 courses + glass of wine at... More

Our lunch at The Cowrie was excellent. Food choice was great & the service excellent.Enough choices for all tastes. Lovely atmosphere for lunch & dinner. The waitstaff were friendly & attentive without being overbearing. We were spoiled all round & the whale watching just topped it off. Definitely an experience to be repeated soon.

As a celebratory lunch on a lovely sunny day in winter, this restaurant nailed every aspect we could have asked for. The Cowrie is a fine dining restaurant. They don't do gimmicks, they don't look down at your nor do they expect you to do anything yourself. Everything I experienced was 100% professional, with amazing food, excellent views and wonderful... More

Had dinner at The Cowrie with a small group of 6 last night. The food was quite good but it is clear the focus is on good seafood dishes so I would especially recommend going if you like seafood. One small disappointment was that we had called in advance to advise we were celebrating two birthdays, this was confirmed on... More

The Cowrie for lunch? Do it!! We were treated like royalty. Lisa our waitress never stopped smiling and was very attentive, probably the best service we have ever had. The food was just mouth watering and don't get me started on the view. Lunch was a set menu of 4 lovely choices for all 3 courses. Which included a glass... More

I have dined at the Cowrie at least 4 times now and every time I come I am not disappointed. Great and attentive service, immaculate and perfectly cooked food. Very well presented. Some of my recommendations would be the Caramelised Goats Cheese Tart for entrée as well as the Slipper Lobster and Gulf Prawns in Golden Noodles also for entrée.... More
