Guthega Alpine - great view but not great value

This place has a stunning view of the snow (in snow season obviously - nowhere near as interesting during warm weather I would imagine), but they charge a great deal for this. Never before in my life have I paid $17 for a bowl of soup, and plain tomato at that. It was ok, but not memorable. $22 for... read more

When I was young, I was taught manners. Saying please and thanks, making eye contact when you speak to someone, and treating others with respect and dignity. Unfortunately manners aren't practiced by the obnoxious staff at the Guthega Inn and it's hardly surprising that they have received such terrible reviews. Such a pity that a restaurant in a prime location... More

I recently visited the pub and on arrival was impressed with the venue and thought "this would be a great place to come and stay". Never! We had lunch and the meal was nice but the rice was crunchy/not cooked. The attitude of the owners of the establishment was shocking and I am surprised this place is still operating after... More

Nice to find an actual restaurant on the slopes rather than the food halls/ cafeterias at the top. As per other reviews we did all comment on the slight attitude of the man behind the bar but he seem to cheer up when things quietened down a bit. Having said that we would have spent a lot more money here... More

I wanted to love this restaurant. It's out of the way of the main resorts and therefore doesn't have the same cafeteria feel of the Perisher centre and the Blue Cow terminal. While it does get busy, there's outside seating and the turnover in tables seems quite quick. That could be because you don't really feel welcome to stay linger... More

Be prepared for the rude female owner when you place your order! She is rude, abrupt and not even a please or thank you at any time. She just speaks to you like you are worthless and just another number through the door. Yes they get busy, but a smile and a please or thank you goes along way! Then... More

We were given the heads up on this lunch spot at Guthega/Perisher, one of the very few that is not owned by the resort and hence it's able to serve meals, drinks, etc that it wants rather than what it's told. Good food and beers/ciders and only a few metres back to the T-bar to return to the slopes.

The Weiner Schnitzel rocked and although looked massive, it was deceiving as it was quite thin so not too filling at all.

No indication on how to queue or order food. Not enough tables to sit at so when you do finally place your order, they ask you whether you're sitting inside or outside. Who knows when the next table is going to be available? They don't, yet the waiter will comment that you got it wrong when he eventually delivers your... More

Great location- food was good but portions quite small - prefer to eat here rather than most of the cafes on the mountain though.
