Description: Tired of his 5 a.m. forays, a young farmer decided he had milked his last cow. He conceived the idea to build a roadside sandwich stand. This sandwich stand on Somerset Pike (Route 985) in Jennerstown evolved into the Laurel HIghlands landmark it is today, known as Green Gables Restaurant, a Wine Spectator award winner. The rustic, artistic setting of Green Gables provides tables an expansive view of the stream that feeds Stoughton Lake as well as mountain flora and fauna. Antiques, statuary, and fireplaces adorn the many rooms of the fine dining restaurant where new American cuisine features produce from regional farms combined culinary influences from around the world. The calming views and exquisite cuisine invite you to experience fine dining in a country setting. Green Gables hold monthly wine tastings and beer tastings in addition to occasional wine or beer dinners. Packages with Huddleson Court and the Mountain Playhouse are availabe.

My husband and I had dinner here a few weeks ago. Why did we wait so long? The food was incredible and one of the best dining experiences that we have had in a long time. I had a filet mignon that was truly out of this world! Cooked to perfection! The salad and sides were delicious and creative. The... More

The rustic country setting and décor are lovely, but there seemed to be a musty smell to the place. However the food was very good, tender turkey, mashed red skin potatoes, and about "4" green beans (that was disappointing.) The salad greens were a bit limp, with very little dressing. Dessert was tasty. A type of apple cake with drizzled... More

Green Gables is located in the secluded area of Jennerstown, Pa. The old stone building is beautiful with a lovely creek running behind it. Our waitress, Cathy, was excellent. Friendly, helpful and quick. The lunch was very good - shrimp lobster salad had big chunks of lobster. I highly recommend Green Gables.

A varied menu, world class beer menu. We had the pork tenderloin, steak, trout and lamb. Everyone really enjoyed their meal. including the mushroom and bleu chess dip and alligator appetizers. We sat near the windows in the back, overlooking several large ponds, duck, trees swaying in the breeze. Beautiful!

OMG! that's all I can say about this place. The ambience is beautiful but the food was pretty bad and the service if you could call it that, they don't want to seat you by the window, it might be hard work for the staff to get to you from the kitchen even though its right beside you just about.... My husband and I went here for an anniversary weekend and bought a theater/dinner/hotel package. The menu was limited, but diverse in its offerings. We had the chicken sausage stuffed peppers and crab cake appetizers-both were fantastic, but if you like spicy, I recommend the peppers. He had the veal sirloin and I had the bison hanger steak. Both were... More

I took my mom here for brunch before a matinee at the adjacent Mountain Playhouse (fabulous place, too). The setting in the Laurel Highlands of Pennsylvania is perfect, as is the rustic log-cabin like facility - rooms branch off from each other, each with its distinct character. When making reservations, ask for a table by the windows overlooking the ponds/lake.... More

My son and his new wife were recently married on the grounds of the Green Gables Restaurant/Huddleson Court Inn (I'll review the Inn separately). First, the grounds were spectacular with the service taking place outdoors next to a beautiful reflective pond. What a great venue!!!! We had the rehearsal dinner at the Green Gables and had the Chicken Marsala choice.... More

My first visit was with my friend, Rachel. ( 15 years ago) ..It was New Years Eve, the snow was softly falling when we pulled up to Green Gables.. It was like going back in time.. The huge pine trees were draped with snow. The front door was decorated with fresh pine boughs and old fashioned Christmas lights. When we... More
