That 70's Cafe

Meals are basic and tasty and are reminiscent of a 70's style cafe. Cafe looks like it is trying to achieve a retro look with booths and fittings. Staff were stand offish but helpful offering both the sit down menu and take away menu. No complaints but they could do so much more if they were to... read more

I have happy memories of this café from family visits starting in the 1950s. It was a point of honour to time our trips to our home town further along so that we could eat at the Niagara. We breezed in with a new family member to be greeted by an expressionless person behind the counter. We looked at the... More

Looked old and grotty. Blackboard had items such as tinned spaghetti or baked beans on toast. Seriously! No one was in there which says a lot. Free parking outside but so does every shop in Gundagai.

Complete rubbish. Poor service. Poor food. Poor attitude. I asked for something gluten free because I'm ALLERGIC to gluten and got asked by a staff member serving us "why would you want to eat gluten free?" in a nasty and judgmental tone. I ordered a salad sandwich on gluten free bread. A predominantly lettuce sandwich on dry bread was served... More

Great old looking place with old style ambiance and food. Great history on the walls. Staff would rather be anywhere else then serving eager passerby travellers who dared to venture beyond the highway pit stops. If crowded don't venture in as minimal staff can't handle the pace. Serves no baby chinos though a gorgeous sleepy cat in the stairwell on... More

We made a quick stop in Gundagai and I was famished so I hurried over here to order a to-go sandwich. The place has a dingy, yet homey feel. The staff weren't very friendly and my sandwich was pretty much just burnt white bread. I'm sure there's other options in Gundagai and I wish I had looked for them.

Stopped here for a coffee a few times. Always takeaway felt sorry for them as there is no one in there. What a mistake. Had a few nasty comments about pay now. Last time my daughter went in and bought a takeaway coffee for 4 dollars, gave a 5 dollar note, came out side and waited with me. I asked... More

The worst experience I have had at a cafe. The rudest woman snapped at us when we walked in. After telling us to sit we took a few moments to read the menu on the board. We then we went to order and she snapped again to say 'I told you to sit down'. We were that disgusted that we... More

I have been dining at the Niagara Cafe on and off for years now. As usual, upon entering you are immediately overcome with a sense of family and history which for myself and my fellow diners equates to that homely feeling. Nothing has changed much at the Niagara, right down to the old diner booth-style seating, just one of the... More

Horrible experience & one I will never forget. I often drive from Melbourne to Sydney and have always stopped at Niagara Cafe for lunch, but never again after I witnessed a customer being yelled at and physically abused by staff. The staff were rude at best and I heard a staff member ask the customer if they owed him something... More
