Great Japanese street food

we ate all the Japanese street food staples...karage, tataki, yakitori, gyoza and Ebi teppan... All really good. Washed down with a Kirin, and great service, pretty damn good! Also has a a good selection of sushi on the train (but we didn't have any)

We had Dinner on a very busy night in January. The service was great. They found us a table within 5 minutes. The food we ordered came out within 5-10 minutes. The food was very good but it was a little on the expensive side. I would definitely return.

Kinoko is generally all about the food as the streetside/arcade setting is a tricky one and generally a quick lunch is preferred to dinner. Given the January heat we opted for dinner and ended up with a large group too - it could have been impossible but the fabulous service somehow sorted out seating, food arriving at just the right... I was looking forward to the food experience but has been feeling rather underwhelmed with the food. I've had better Japanese food at other places. I was more disappointed when the quality of food do not match up with their prices. Don't waste money here.

Kikonko was pretty good. We ate here three times within a five day stay in Byrons bay. We had the assorted sushi, the udon soup with tempura, the unagi sushi and also grabbed a bunch of things of the sushi train. I would not call this place a real sushi place as about 98% of everything on the sushi train... More

I've been here many times and the past 2 nights - yesterday I had lunch and dinner here! It's hard to go past this place in Byron. In fact I wish there was a Japanese like this in Melbourne because I would eat there at least weekly. The menu is creative and delicious - options like homemade seafood gyoza, tuna... More

We were very impressed with the food and service at Kinoko. The Staff were friendly and efficient and the food was lovely. Good range of dishes to try. Eggplant was delicious.

I am always impressed when visiting Kinoko, the food is fresh, high quality and there is always an interesting dish to try. Staff are friendly and very professional and always make me feel very comfortable. I love sampling different dishes on the sushi train and of course trying a main dish from the menu. Great Japanese food, made with love.

I love going to Kinoko and enjoy the dishes from the menu and the sushi train. It´s the best Japanese place in town, with lovely and friendly staff! My favorite dish is Warm Sushi Roll...you just have to try!

I was super impressed with Kinoko, the flavours were delicious, good sized portions and presentation was amazing! I would recommend the veggie curry and tuna salad (sushi train available too). I got 2 meals and spent $30 (which was worth it for the quality).
