The Waterwheel Inn was built in the late 1700s. It is steeped in the industrial history of Cornwall as it was once a tin smelting house and then involved in clay drying. It is set in a beautiful wooded valley next to St Austell's White River and just 10 minutes walk from the town. The restaurant has been recently refurbished and is elegant but informal with exposed granite walls, oak floor and a log fire for cold winter evenings. We serve unpretentious, plentiful, freshly prepared meals including a 2 and 3 course menu for £14.95/£17.50, main meals from £10.00 and an a la carte menu with fresh local fish and seafood specials, plus extra mature chargrilled steaks.

Fantastic food. Made to feel very welcome. Loved the easy- going atmosphere. Service was swift and slick. Portions very generous. Relaxed in the beautiful garden after our meal.

Drove past here the other night and thought what a lovely place to try. Well tried it tonight and the food was amazing. 4 of us tried the set menus. What a choice. The food was amazing for the price we paid. Even saw the chef picking fresh herbs from the garden. Highly recommended. We are already looking forward to... More

Fantastic location, very nice staff. The food is excellent at a very acceptable rate. We had Sea Bass for dinner accompanied with a good Pinot Grigio followed by a wonderfull dessert, a Belgian waffel ( see picture) The best food we had since we arrived in Cornwall a week ago.

My Boyfriend and I went here on a Monday evening. We eat out a lot and like to try new places. Having looked on Trip advisor we decided to give this place a go. We opted for the 3 course set menu (the websites pricing is incorrect, it is £17.50 not £16.00). Owned by Mark and Francesca, the place itself... More

I am sorry you felt that the three course meal you ate was not good value for £17.50. Perhaps you would have felt it was better value if you had realised the 'Homemade Chicken Liver Pate' at £6.00 is most definitely home made. I am concerned about the stroganoff with basmati rice however as this should have been served with... More

Although we had a sat nav we took a time to find this lovely restaurant. The staff were so helpful when we rang to say we were having trouble finding them. However, it was worth the effort as the meal was excellent. Well done Watermill so patient and welcoming.

Found this pub by chance, and extremely glad we did. We couldn't resist but have three courses as all the food looked so good. Of course tasted fabulous best meal I've had out in a long time. Not to mention the staff were brilliant and very nice. Only issue I have with the place is its too far away from... More

Really good food with a great choice for all tastes. Would definitely return when passing. Much better than pub style food, although hospitality was as you would like in a pub. Represents great value for money.
