Desperate to eat, we took a chance on this place as we drove past, and we're delighted we did. Nice and roomy, incredibly friendly, well kept beer. The food is really great value; it's not especially refined, but it's good, honest grub at decent prices, and they don't stint on the portions. The mussels in particular were excellent. Very child... we ate here a couple of times during our camping trip to the area, it is necessary to book as it is very busy during peak holidays, we went at easter, the food is great, with a good choice, and it sells Tribute, which is always a bonus :-)

We were taken to the Inn by a friend and village local, she told us they did very good food and they certainly did! The atmosphere was lovely, old world local pub charm and the menu was varied enough to keep 5 of us very happy. I am a a bit of an old school scampi girl myself and the... More

Loved the Polgooth Inn. We (me, my wife and 8 yr-old daughter) ate there on three evenings during a recent holiday and the pub itself, the food, staff and service were all excellent. The Beer was well kept (I'm pretty fussy!) and there was also a good choice of decent wines - I had a really good glass of Malbec!... More

One of my favourite places to eat in the area, we always try to have at least one meal here when we are in the area. This time we visited over the Easter weekend and again we were not disappointed. We telephoned about two hours in advance to book a table and even though they were busy we managed to... More

After three different nights and meals in this pub/inn I start to understand how to order drinks and food, dependent on different places in the pub. The service was a great help and we enjoyed the meals. Simple, good quality and generous portions. Nice people, the other customers and the personel.

We had two meals at The Polgooth and both were excellent. The first night we had the Fowey Mussels and the sharing Tapas. Mussels were perfectly cooked and the tapas was tasty with an interesting combination of foods, the breaded squid rings being a particular highlight. The second night we had the Potted Duck to start. We had the fish... More

This pub had an extensive menu of locally sourced food - we both opted for the Fowey Mussels and were not disapointed. I have found that mussels can be very hit and miss if not cooked well, but here they were spot on and the sauces they were presented in were very tasty too. We were served by friendly staff... More

The overall experience was excellent, the food was plenty, tasty and well presented. Only complaint I have was that the scones were so delicious I had to have several. The atmosphere was welcoming, the staff were helpful and the outlook was outstanding beauty. A place I would recommend.
