My husband and I ate here during a 3 night break in Mevagissey. It was actually recommended to us by the b&b owners where we were staying. Thank goodness we booked a table as while we were there several people were turned away as they had not booked. The food, wine and service were amazing and I would certainly recommend... More

A quiet Friday evening. Great food - fresh scallops and fish, really lovely steak and fresh puddings decorated with home made wafers in the shape of salamanders. So cute. Do visit this restaurant if you are nearby, but in tourist season book ahead.

Excellent venue started with scallops each then we had sole and John dory both were cooked to perfection with plenty of fresh vegetables. If we are down this way again we would visit again

Nine of us came here during a walking weekend. We were impressed by the professional but friendly service from the owner and her staff, the choice and quality of the food, (whether fish or meat) the great ambiance and excellent value for money. A first rate restaurant, and recommended!

We are regulars in Meva and have come to terms with this being easily the best restaurant. Locally sourced meats, and excellent fresh fish. The Redhead swears by their treatment of Cornish sole/ megrim and despite my diet, I am always impressed by the chocolate puddings. Relaxed but efficient, nothing seems too much trouble. Delightful.

Checked out trip adviser and went with it. The Salamander offers excellent food and great service. Scollops were fantastic and the local lamb was superb. Look forward to returning.

Dined here 15 months ago-excellent then; probably even better now. Almost went against my intentions of the John Dory, having almost "fished out" during the last four days in Cornwall. Good choice, cooked to perfection. The owner waits on the tables as well her staff. I've detailed this in a previous post and the title, it remains the best in... More

Stumbled on the restaurant while searching for somewhere to eat on a wet Tuesday night. The food was delicious, local fish & a scrummy dessert. With efficient but not over bearing service?

Simple menu, great local food, staff who care about what they produce, good atmosphere and just 64 quid for 2 steaks, 5 courses and 4 drinks... Definitely recommended. Might be a good idea to book.

Lovely meal here, certainly deserving of the top spot in Maevagissey on trip advisor! One of the slightly bigger restaurants although still tiny so book ahead to make sure you can get in. Food was really good.
